Warm Brooklyn couple, married 11 years, seeks to love a second child

Dear Mom,

Thank you for taking the time to look through our profile. My husband, Chris, and I are eager to expand our family. We want to love and raise a second child. Currently we have a 4 year old daughter who we are in the process of adopting from the foster care system in NYC. We anticipate her adoption to be complete in 2021.
The family spends almost every day in the park one way or another: walking the dog, going to the playground, visiting the marina. We all live together in a large loft close to waterfront and large parks in Brooklyn, NY.

We are nature and animal lovers, living with one small wheaten terrier and two Siberian cats. We like to travel to the beach and mountains as much as possible, but with recent travel restrictions, we are keeping it to day trips near NYC.

Vibrant and healthy, we are active even during these challenging times. During the pandemic we have been working out at home and taking frequent trips to the local community garden. Chris and I helped to found the garden 7 years ago, and we are so happy, especially this year to have a plot where we grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

I am a stay at home Mom and homemaker. Chris runs a family business that provides support to the Department of Defense.

We are a great, fun, strong family who want to share our love with one more.

We appreciate how hard this must be for you. We are so grateful to be considered to love and care for your child.

Thank You,
Liz

Who We Are

Chris and I met at a concert on the Lower East Side in the summer of 2005. After our first date we have been nearly inseparable. We are most happy when we are at a concert, in the garden, at the beach or in the mountains.
We have worked over the last 16 years to grow together placing love, compassion, and forgiveness at the center of our relationship. We value kindness and honesty above all else.

Adoption Diary

As the state of NY opens, we return to our goals

The last three months have been a journey for the family. We live in Brooklyn NY, the epicenter of the corona virus and home to ongoing protests. Alina and I spent our days inside the apartment, except for the daily dog walk. We spent our days playing, learning, singing, dancing and refraining from the news. Finally, as enter enter phase 1 we are spending more time in the community garden and Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Court and a school interview

After 41 nail biting months, on Friday we appeared in court with our foster child’s birth mother where she surrendered her rights. It was both sad and joyful. Mom has been through A LOT and has a great relationship with baby. While the relationship is not always easy, we love each other and are walking into an open adoption so mom and baby can continue to be in each other’s lives. That was Friday…..

Saturday there was soccer class and an interview for Pre K at Chris alma mater. It went really well. There’s a good chance she will get in, but we have an awesome backup school.

On Sunday, we rested.
