Warm Brooklyn couple, married 10 years, seeks to add family member

Hello Dear One.

We know how hard this must be for you. We are so grateful to be considered.

My husband, Chris, and I want to add another child to our family. Currently we have a 3.75 year old daughter who we are in the process of adopting from the foster care system in NYC. We live together in a large loft close to waterfront and large parks in Brooklyn, NY.

Chris and I are nature and animal lovers, living with with one small wheaten terrier dog and two Siberian cats, plus traveling to the beach and mountains as much as possible. Vibrant and healthy, we are active gym members and have weekly in home yoga sessions. We helped to found the local community garden and have a plot there where we grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

I am the Assistant Head of a Special Education School. Chris is a Department of Defense Contractor.

We are a great family who want to share our love with one more.

Who We Are

We met at a concert on the Lower East Side in the summer of 2005. After our first date we have been nearly inseparable. We are most happy when we are at a concert, in the garden, at the beach or in the mountains.
We have worked over the last 15 years to grow together placing love, compassion, and forgiveness at the center of our relationship. We value kindness and honesty above all else.

Adoption Diary

Court and a school interview

After 41 nail biting months, on Friday we appeared in court with our foster child’s birth mother where she surrendered her rights. It was both sad and joyful. Mom has been through A LOT and has a great relationship with baby. While the relationship is not always easy, we love each other and are walking into an open adoption so mom and baby can continue to be in each other’s lives. That was Friday…..

Saturday there was soccer class and an interview for Pre K at Chris alma mater. It went really well. There’s a good chance she will get in, but we have an awesome backup school.

On Sunday, we rested.

One Month after the holidays, we’re keeping the joy going

One Month after the holidays we are working hard to avoid the NYC January Blues. This weekend was about soccer, scooting, and cookies. We leave the house early and play as much as possible to keep our daughter engaged with positive enriching activities. On Saturday she and Chris went to soccer class held at a local school’s gymnasium. Our girl has gotten really good at using her scooter and we took to wonderful walks through Brooklyn Bridge Park. It rained a bit yesterday, so we made delicious oatmeal raisin chocolate chip cookies.

We are looking forward to a busy week.
