The moments we share are the moments we keep forever.

Dear Special Someone,

Thank you for considering making an adoption plan for your child. We can't possibly understand the emotions you are processing or how difficult this decision must be for you. What we can do is tell you about us, our love for each other and our children, and the love we already have for the child that we hope to welcome into our family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for taking the time to learn a little about us, for your courage, and for considering placing your child for adoption. We also hope that we will be able to learn about you, if that is something that you are comfortable with.

Who We Are

We have been married for 13 years. Together, we have built a life that is family-centered. We celebrate our holidays and birthdays with grandparents, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. We explore nature with our children with trips to the zoo, the beach, and hikes through the woods. We enjoy warm summer days at our parent’s lake home and cool summer nights watching for shooting stars and catching fireflies. We have fun together, sledding, building snow castles and warming up with a cup of hot cocoa in the winter. We make it a priority to gather for dinner around our table in the evening, sharing bedtime stories, prayers and snuggles each night.

Our sons (ages 7 and 4) are encouraged to explore their interests, so they enjoy music lessons and playing sports. We are teaching them the importance of kindness. We want them to understand that the most significant thing in this world is family. For that reason, we recently moved back to Western New York from Atlanta, Georgia, and hope to continue to expand our family through adoption.

We both always knew that adoption was an option for us. We are familiar with adoption as Lisa’s cousin was adopted. We have become even more familiar with adoption as our nephew was adopted as an infant eight years ago. This experience has emphasized to us the importance of being open about and celebrating a child’s adoption.

We will love and care for this child, and teach him or her about their beautiful adoption story, encourage him or her to dream big, and completely support those dreams to make sure that those dreams become a reality.

We are fortunate to have a strong and loving family and we cherish the opportunity to welcome another child into our lives. We envision our sons doting on a younger brother or sister. We can imagine them building forts, riding bikes, doing craft projects and exploring and learning about all this world has to offer, together, as they grow.

As a family, we spend our time outdoors as much as possible. We find enjoyment playing in the sand and waves at the beach, walking through nature trails around our neighborhood, splashing in the puddles on a rainy day, visiting the playgrounds close to our home and listening to concerts in our town park. When we can’t get outside, we explore the world through stories and books, and homemade science experiments.

We value education and believe that children must not just be taught but must experience life. We love to explore museums, zoos, aquariums, cooking, trying new foods and spending time with friends that honor different cultures and traditions. We just enjoy being together and laughing!

It’s not just the four of us! Our extended family is within driving distance. We have great grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins that we see often to celebrate life’s small and big moments. Cheering on the kids at sporting events, blowing out the candles on birthday cakes, enjoying warm cinnamon buns on Christmas morning, hunting for eggs on Easter, taking boat rides and BBQing chicken on the Fourth of July.

We prioritize spending time together as a family. Our entire extended family is excited to welcome and love another child!

Thankful November…Our Top Ten

We love, love, love Christmas. So it comes as no surprise that the appearance of Christmas decorations around town has got us all giddy. But before we let the winds of November sweep by without notice, we want to make sure that we truly embrace and enjoy the entire Thanksgiving season.

So with that, we compiled our Top Ten Things We Are Thankful For.

10.) Warm blankets for snuggling.
9.) Itty bitty marshmallows for the top of our hot cocoa.
8.) Mimi’s (Lisa’s mom) homemade chicken soup.
7.) Snow days.
6.) Great grandma’s homemade apple pie.
5.) Game night with friends.
4.) New seasons of our favorite Netflix shows. (Because you can only watch “Big Bang Theory” and “Criminal Minds” reruns so many times.)
3.) A home filled with laughter and love.
2.) The time we share as a family.
1.) The hope that someday soon we will become adoptive parents.

Halloween Ready

We are gearing up for Halloween. The Pumpkins are carved (we will light them on Halloween), the costumes are ready and the Great Pumpkin viewing has commenced. For the first time, we even roasted pumpkin seeds. I don’t know how I (Lisa) have never made and eaten roasted pumpkin seeds; delicious! We are hopeful that we will have an extra pumpkin to carve next year; I wouldn’t even mind sharing the seeds. ❤️ Ryan and Lisa
