About Us

Our Story

We met in San Diego, CA, after Tessa moved there just a few months prior. At the time we met Tessa was in graduate school finishing up her degree in Social Work, and Hudson was the head trainer at a local gym.

A few months after we met Tessa's lease was ending so Tessa moved in with Hudson and his 2 roommates. Luckily everything worked out!

Not long after that we adopted our first dog Onyx, who quickly became very much our baby. Tessa cried on the floor when she had to go back to work the weekend after adopting him. Our life in San Diego was fun and full of adventures. We bought our first home, spent countless hours at the dog beach, and eventually got married there.

During the pandemic we decided to move to Austin, TX. This was short lived, as it was decided only a year later that we wanted to move back to the east coast where Tessa was from to be closer to her family. We live right next to Tessa's parents and feel so lucky that Hudson's mom and stepdad are soon going to moving out here too!

Our relationship was built on a foundation of unconditional love and support, kindness, and mutual respect. We strive to always push ourselves to be better than we were the day before, and apologize for our mistakes when they inevitably happen. We are both silly, quirky, and love to make each other laugh, while also being calm, reserved at times, and nurturing.

Our goal as parents is to help our child became whoever they want to become. We would love to have an open-adoption where baby boy or girl never has any doubt or question about who they are or where they came from. Being an adoptee, Tessa met her birth mother when she was 7, and birth father when she was 18. While this was incredibly healing for her in terms of identity development, she knows that it would have been even better if she always just knew and there was never any question is her mind about who she was or where she came from.

We hope to build and create a loving and lifelong relationship with you, the expectant parent. One where visits 2-3 times a year are fostered and encouraged, pictures are regularly sent, and one where you feel apart of our family as well (and we hope that you'd welcome us into yours!).

If it feels like we may be a good fit, please feel free to text us at 925-392-1220, or direct message us through here. We would love for you to get to know us more, and for us to get to know you!

Our Home

photo of adoptive family's home We live on 3+ acres of private, country land. Our house consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 and a half baths, and a full finished basement.

On our shared driveway are three houses, Tessa's parents, our neighbors who have several young grandchildren who are always around (including newborn baby twins), and another family with one daughter in high school and another in middle school. Amongst all of our families, we all own together "common land," which consists of 90+ acres of woods.

Tessa grew up on this land, and spent many of her days playing outdoors. Whether that was playing in the stream, exploring the woods, or spending countless hours building snow forts and sledding in the winter time.

We have a large garden that every spring/summer produces a lot of delicious vegetables, and we hope to one day get some chickens for some fresh eggs.

We live 10 minutes outside of our little city, with easy access to lots of child friendly activities such as a children's science center, a children's garden, many libraries and parks. Our schools are top rated and there are many extracurricular activities to join.

Tessa

adoptive family photo - Tessa I would describe Tessa as bubbly, kind, understanding, quirky, and empathetic. She is incredibly selfless, caring, and patient. She is persistent and works hard to accomplish her goals. She is strong willed, and pays close attention to detail. I know that she will make a great parent because I see everyday how much she cares about others. She teaches me every day how to become a better man- I am so grateful for her.

Hudson

adoptive family photo - Hudson I would describe Hudson as hard working, kind, and compassionate. He really cares about others and really cares to truly get to know people. He will ask questions and inquire with people about their interests and what they are like. He doesn’t just listen as you speak, he listens to learn and understand. He cares deeply about social justice, sustainability and protecting the environment. I love that he is always willing to teach others what he knows. He talks excitedly about becoming a parent and showing him or her everything he knows.
