Meeting each other was a breath of fresh air. During our first date in January of 2015, we talked for three hours until the restaurant began closing and kicked us out. We met through a dating app and felt a connection right away. The butterflies were definitely there, but at the same time, we felt so comfortable around each other.
We got engaged on Christmas Eve that same year in Joelle’s apartment. Chris only had the ring for a few days and was anxious to pop the question. In November of 2016, we got married and it was the best day ever! We celebrated with about 100 of our closest friends and family, who made the day special. We had a great DJ, delicious food, and a fabulous photo booth!
What we like most about our relationship is that we can be ourselves! We work through issues together head-on, always showing each other love and respect. Humor has also carried us through both challenging and lighthearted times, and we can find humor in any situation! At home, we binge-watch shows together and do a lot of household projects. During warmer months, we spend hours outdoors tending to our yard. We love being outside. A perfect date night for us is to go to a winery and listen to live music! One of our greatest strengths as a couple is giving unconditional love to our friends and family, and we are so excited to welcome a child into our family and show them, limitless love, as well!
Why we are adopting: After getting married, we tried to have biological children for over two years. We started working with a local fertility clinic in early 2019, but treatment was unsuccessful. Joelle had just turned 41 in May, and we felt like the odds of getting pregnant successfully were very small. As we shifted gears, we knew we wanted to be parents and adoption made the most sense to expand our family!
Although it was not easy to realize we would not biologically be able to be parents, we knew that adoption would be the best way to bring the pitter-patter of little feet into our home. We want to adopt at least two children and fill our home with joy and laughter. We want to provide our children with all the love and positivity we can!
