Every day we wake up and are reminded how lucky we are to have found each other. When our paths crossed we knew that we had finally met someone with shared values. Kindness, caring, respect, and compassionate understanding define our marriage. We make a good team, and our relationship is strong and joyful. We live each day with love, laughter and happiness.
Children are a big part of our lives. Whether we're with family or friends, kids are always around and we love to make them the center of attention.
We love adventure and we like to travel and explore new places and new cultures, but we also cherish our close-knit community in Brooklyn, NY. While we live in a big city, we enjoy our "small town" neighborhood.
Education will be our top priority for your child. New York City has some of the best schools in the country. We promise we will give your child every opportunity to grow and learn and be successful in life.
We believe daily life is important - we make sure to eat dinner together every night. We love to experiment in the kitchen and Mark loves to bake. We spend most evenings at home together, making dinner, reading and just relaxing on the couch.
Mark is an accountant, which allows him consistent and predictable hours, giving him time to dedicate to being a very involved parent.
Eric works as a Medical Director for a large advertising company. His schedule is very flexible and he can even work from home most days.
We enjoy an active fun-filled life, exploring the city and going to the theater and movies. At the same time we also enjoy staying home in each other’s company.
Being active and healthy is very important to both of us. Mark is an accomplished runner and he seldom misses his daily run - he can’t wait to take your child running with him in a jogging stroller. Eric enjoys a variety of activities such as weight lifting, group training boot camps, and indoor cycling.
Your child will grow with two devoted, caring, loving parents who will make his or her happiness and well-being their top priority.
Mark was born and raised in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA and he values the experience he had growing up in a quiet, rural community. Being the middle child of three brothers, he feels it provided a sense of family – always having an older brother looking after him, and having a younger brother to look after.
Mark’s younger brother Matt married their neighbor Lisa, and they have a college-aged daughter and son – when Hayley was born, Mark was in the waiting room at the hospital anxious to meet his first niece; Ryan was born in Japan and Mark went to visit him as a baby (twice!).
Mark’s older brother Michael and his wife Olivia have four younger children – Aiden (7), Ainsley (5), Archer (3) and Adler (2). Mark was excited to have the opportunity to be an uncle again, only this time he gets to experience it with Eric. Since all 3 brothers live close by, in New York, Maryland, and Virginia, we can see each other frequently, and we also go ‘home’ to Pittsburgh often to see our mom. All of our nephews and nieces are excited at the idea of having a new cousin!
Mark has always had a strong work ethic, and a desire to be successful with everything he’s attempted. This is evident in his long career as a real estate accountant as well as personal experiences in life such as designing and helping build his own home, completing 10 marathons and hiking to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro! He’s also a bookworm, and hopes to pass that habit on to your child by reading to him/her before bedtime. It’s important to Mark to have new experiences, to see different places and to meet new people – what could be better than experiencing these things through his child’s eyes!
Eric was born in Buffalo, NY and has a large extended family. His mother, Karen, lives in Florida and his father and stepmother, Kevin and Marylou, are happily married and still live in Buffalo. Eric’s stepmother and father are retired after many years working in education and his mother is a high school math teacher.
Eric is the oldest of three brothers, and the first to get married. Your baby would be the first grandchild for all three of Eric’s parents and the first nephew or niece for Eric’s brothers and they are very excited. Eric is very close with his 11 aunts and uncles, his many cousins, and his grandparents.
Eric studied biochemistry in college and earned his doctorate in genetics. Since becoming a doctor, he spent many years conducting cancer research around the world before moving to New York City 5 years ago. Now he works as a Medical Director, helping people with cancer connect with life saving medicines. In addition to science, Eric also loves theater. He has acted in, directed and produced shows in 3 countries. Eric is excited to be a father – and he has three very positive parental figures in his own life who have been incredible role models.
