Exploring!

  • Cliff walk along the beach at Mimi and Grampy's house- we can't wait to show the sunset to another little one!
  • Robert Frost Museum trip - it was hard to get the sign in the picture.
  • Inca Trail stairs in the rain- no turning back now! This was a few days before Matt proposed.
  • Hiking in Acadia National Park with the dogs. We plan to take both our children on a National Park road trip!
  • We went to the Dali Museum for one of our dates. These days, we focus more on the Science and Children's museums.
  • We snowshoed as part of training for the Inca Trail.
  • Matt on a zipline- should we make a silly joke about him zipping into Julia's heart?
  • Checking out the statues at University of Rhode Island where Matt went to college. As a vet, Julia was checking for accuracy
  • Hiking in the woods with Matilda
  • End of hike and car in sight...then dog jumps into muddy brook!

At Home

  • Snow days are something special at our house- building snow men, sledding and, of course, hot chocolate.
  • Jam session with Daddy- which instrument will another little one prefer?
  • Exciting finish to rainy day obstacle course- we imagine two kids would make it into a race!
  • Hanging out on the porch eating blueberries from our yard- we'd love to have help eating them next year!
  • Making rainbow rice- this has lasted over two years and not just in the carpets!
  • There's always time for pillow fights on the weekends
  • Snacking on cinnamon rolls on the couch- there's plenty to share!
  • Taking a break from pruning lilacs to check out a worm
  • Making a new recipe- we are excited at the thought of making recipes from a little one's background!
  • Refilling the bird feeder-cardinals, juncos, chickadees and woodpeckers are our frequent flyers but we have seen some doves and tufted titmouses too
  • Pavlov demonstrates good napping posture.
  • Isaac has always loved winding music boxes. We can't wait to see what another child will be fascinated by!
  • Isaac has never been into arts and crafts but does like learning about nature. Will our next child be into that or something else entirely?

Holidays Sampler

  • Full disclosure, these Christmas gingerbread cookies turned a bit heavy on the ginger, but they were so much fun to make
  • Two weeks before Christmas, we get a tree from a local nursey and trim it. Isaac gets a special ornament- next year, we hope to have another little one to get an ornament for!
  • Testing outdoor Christmas decorations
  • Carols and cookies are a must for tree trimming night, even for Matilda and Pavlov
  • Decorating Easter eggs or ourselves?
  • Easter Basket Scavenger Hunt- two seekers would be double the fun...and the candy!
  • Our neighborhood wanted a pandemic proof Halloween, so we set up our candy at curbside. Some of the decorations were quite spoooky!
  • Carving pumpkins from Grampy's garden!
  • PJ Masks: Into the night to get some candy- we need a fourth to make it complete!
  • Making pumpkin pie to bring for Thanksgiving dinner. Isaac would be happy to share the beaters with a sibling!
  • During the pandemic, our family exchanged turkey picture texts.
  • Isaac and Mimi at Christmas- our whole family can't wait to welcome a new little one!
  • Jellybeans on the piano- a new Easter tradition?

Family and Friends

  • Julia met one of her closest friends while rock climbing. These days they're more likely to meet up over playdates!
  • Apple slingshot! We often meet up with this pair of friends who have a son Isaac's age.
  • Matt's sister and brother-in-law at Thanksgiving- one of their kid's had just started "a wave."
  • Matt's three aunts and one of mine (not pictured) helped us make table decorations for our wedding. Some were better with a glue gun than others!
  • Grampy and Matt's brother oversee the annual summer clambake
  • Matt comes from a large extended family- most who live within an hour away.
  • Grampy and Mimi blow bubbles at a bbq in our backyard
  • Julia's college friend and her family live in San Francisco. We hope to tour the redwoods with them soon!
  • Matt's college friends live nearby and have children a bit older. It's lovely seeing how patient and playful they are with Isaac.

Outdoors in Every Season

  • It's an easy walk to the park for a sled ride and there's room for one more!
  • Isaac loves the goose ponds at the park. He would also love to show a younger sibling the goslings in the spring!
  • April showers bring spring flowers...and Matilda? She would love another little one to run around with!
  • Maple sugar time- this is the kind of seasonal activity we love to do with kids!
  • We made jam with those strawberries that lasted well into winter. I wonder if another little one would like smashing the berries like Isaac did.
  • Grampy loves to bring his grandchildren on his boat- with life preservers of course!
  • Mimi loves to go to the beach- Isaac is a little tentative about water. Will our next child swim like a fish?
  • Snack time during a fall hike- we're steadily exploring lots of local preserves
  • Whitewater rafting on our honeymoon
  • Apples are easier to reach from Daddy's shoulders!
