We grew up in the same town and met in high school while both taking part in a local youth group! We quickly became friends and began dating the following year; our relationship continued all throughout college. Each year we would visit Boston together-a special place for us and particularly for Dan as he grew up going with his family. On St. Patrick’s Day 2013, Dan proposed right on the Boston waterfront with our friends nearby to celebrate and help capture the moment. It was cold, windy, and perfect! We were married the following year in May 2014, and the best part was we each knew we were marrying our best friend.
Over 6 years of marriage, our friendship has only deepened through moments when it was easy to have joy, and in the seasons where life seemed heavy.
We were both raised Catholic and continue to actively practice our faith, turning to prayer when we are making decisions or going through a difficult time. There is a strength to us now that we’ve always had, but the years have truly bound us to one another, knowing that no matter what we go through, we have each other. We are so excited to grow our family and share this love, loyalty, and devotion with our son or daughter!
We live in North Carolina, and as soon as our realtor sent us this house to look at 4 years ago, we knew it was the perfect place for us! Our home has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, an open floor plan and a large, fenced in backyard. We love to host and have family and friends over, and our kitchen and living space is perfect for gatherings-big enough to hold lots of people and be together, but spacious enough it isn’t crowded. We have a great deck in the back, an area for a fire-pit and plenty of space for our family to enjoy being outside to play, make smores, or just enjoy a nice evening outside. We spent a lot of time deciding which room would be the nursery, and picked out the perfect one with natural light and plenty of space for everything we’ll need. We can’t wait to decorate and spend many nights rocking our son or daughter to sleep in this sweet space.
We live just across the road from a county park and system of trails and greenways we already enjoy walking, running, or riding bikes on in the evenings or weekends. There are several playgrounds within walking distance, and we are only a mile away from our community pool. The schools in the area have excellent ratings (Libby’s school is not far), and there are several young families with kids in this area. Our community is welcoming and friendly; we knew this would be a great place to raise a family!
I grew up just south of Raleigh, North Carolina in a big family. I work as an Energy Analyst and help big companies determine cost-effective ways to handle the energy they are using in their businesses. I am a problem solver and life-long learner! After graduating from college, I went on to pursue two different master’s degrees and have worked in a variety of ways as an engineer. I love to travel with Libby and dream of all the places we’ll go as we continue to add to our bucket-list. One of my favorite things to do is cheer on my sports teams on the weekends (go NC State, Red Sox, and Patriots!), but mostly any time I get to spend with our families and friends is the best.
I have always wanted to be a dad and share the same love I was given growing up. I’m looking forward to the moments like watching a football game, helping them with their homework, and road trips together-near and far. Being parents would be the greatest blessing for us, and we can’t wait to share sweet memories with our son or daughter, loving them with everything we have, no matter what!
I was born and raised in North Carolina and grew up in a great town. I am a Spanish teacher at a local elementary school and teach children from kindergarten through 5th grade. Being a people person, I love getting to build relationships with my students, their families, and people I work with! When I’m not teaching, I also run my own photography business on the side. For the past 8 years I’ve had the privilege of capturing special moments with families, newborns, and senior portraits. When Dan and I travel, my camera goes with me to document the amazing things we get
to see and experience. We have a gallery wall in our living room filled with photos I’ve taken over the years. My favorite thing to do is spend intentional time with the people I love. Though my cup gets filled being around people, I also appreciate those moments of solitude. Having my daily quiet time with a devotional and good cup of coffee, going for a run, or just being out in nature is incredibly grounding and refreshing to me.
Ever since Dan and I were dating in college, we have dreamed about having a family. I have always loved kids and wanted to become a mom. Growing up in a family where my siblings were also my best friends is something I’ve always wanted to give. I already cherish time with our families, and can’t wait to experience sweet moments with our son or daughter each day. I look forward to the simple things like bedtime routines, walks around the neighborhood, taking family trips, but also being able to be there throughout their life as an unconditional support, no matter what.
