Loving, supportive, and joyful parents and future big brother hoping to adopt!

We are Diana, Paulo, and Nico from Southern California and we're hoping to grow our family through adoption. We hope through our profile's videos, photos, adoption diary, and additional info that you'll be able to see how much we absolutely LOVE being parents and that Nico will be the most caring and fun big brother! He can't wait to have a baby brother or sister :)

As parents, we know how much unconditional, never-ending love you have for your baby and that you only want the absolute best for him/her. Who you potentially choose as your baby's adoptive family is the most important decision. Please know that if you pursue adoption and choose us, we are committed to raising your child with unconditional love, support, and encouragement in a safe and stable home that values education and enjoying life! We also promise to always honor you and your love for your baby by creating an adoption plan together that reflects the level of openness that you are comfortable with. Your child will know that they are loved by both their birth and adoptive families!

Thank you for considering us. Our hearts are wide open and we are ready to grow our family!

Who We Are

We first met 17 years ago when we were college students, working together at the front desk of the student dorms. We became instant friends and Paulo had a crush on Diana for quite a while! About 2 years later, Diana couldn’t deny that the feelings were mutual. That’s when we finally made our relationship official and we’ve been together ever since (15 years and counting)!

We’ve grown together into the couple we are today: we took college classes together, worked together, travelled to Guatemala, Mexico, and several places around the United States together, and supported each other’s educational and career pursuits (we both are teachers). In 2012 we got married and in 2014 our son Nico was born! He has made our lives so full of love and joy!

Nico is a happy, silly, and caring 6 year old who loves to play basketball, ride his bike, swim, go to art class, and play with his friends. He is going into 1st grade and loves being part of the Spanish language program at his school. Nico is ALWAYS asking for a baby brother or sister and we know he’ll be the best big brother!

We’ve always had a special place in our hearts for adoption (especially because three of Diana’s cousins are adopted). We’ve also faced unexpected fertility problems over the past two years. We now have no doubt that adoption is meant for us and is how we will complete our family.

Adoption Diary

Family Time

It has been abnormally hot this weekend, so we’ve stayed inside in the air conditioning playing games, watching movies, reading, and just hanging out with our dogs Dino and Bella. We love days like this where we stay in our pajamas all day and just have some quality family time at home.

Our Jobs

Paulo has been a 12th grade environmental science teacher for the past 3 years. He works at a charter high school that serves first-generation, college-bound students from underserved communities. About 98% of the students are of color, and 82% come from low-income households.  Paulo greatly appreciates being able to work with students who come from a similar background as he (first-generation, of color, low-income, from the same type of neighborhood that he grew up in) so he can serve as not only a teacher, but a mentor and proof that they, too, can achieve their educational and career dreams. This summer, Paulo was promoted to become the school’s college counselor and he’s really loving it so far, even though his school is completely online right now because of Covid-19.

I am a special education teacher; for 6 years I taught students of various ages and disabilities, ranging from elementary school students with different learning disabilities to teenagers and young adults with severe disabilities, such as autism, Down Syndrome, and other intellectual disabilities. I also worked as a behavioral therapist for young children with autism in their homes. I have a soft spot in my heart for those with special needs, especially because my uncle had Down Syndrome. After we had Nico, I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom while still staying active in the special education world. So, for the past four and a half years I’ve worked part-time from home as a special education curriculum editor for an online educational company that provides curriculum and educational resources to schools around the country. I work when Nico is at school, and then I’m a stay-at-home mom when Nico is home!

When our next child joins our family, I can take as much time off as needed since I create my own schedule (which I’m extremely grateful for). I plan on taking several months off, and Paulo will also take as much off as his school allows for paternity leave. He’s also saved up all of his sick and personal days to use when the baby comes home. After that, I will continue working on a very part-time basis when the baby is napping or in the evenings, and I will continue to also be a stay-at-home mom!  Paulo’s schedule is great, too, since (when he’s not working from home because of Covid) he typically gets home in the late afternoon from work. This allows him plenty of time to spend with Nico (and our future baby) and for all of us to have dinner together every night.

So, as you can tell, Paulo and I love working with kids and we greatly value education!
