As a family, we enjoy family meals, weekend getaways, and we make a big deal about birthdays! We support and encourage each other. We enjoy spending time together. Our best times are when we’re laughing so hard our stomachs get sore.
We are a Christian family who work hard to uphold Christian values. The most important being unconditional love, love you don't have to earn.
We met when Gerald was working as an Instructor for Word of Life Bible Training Center and LeAuna was a student there. We instantly bonded through our love for God, health and fitness, and laughter. We became close friends and remain best friends in marriage.
Gerald describes LeAuna as a woman of grace and elegance who loves him unconditionally and sees the best in him even when he doubts himself. She has a youthful spirit, full of energy. Her gracious words and soft voice bring peace in the midst of disorder. Her presence brings joy.
LeAuna describes Gerald as the perfect balance: brainy but has swag, silly but serious when he needs to be, intellectual but relatable. He loves the Lord, which makes him better in every way. He brilliantly allows scripture to guide his life, and makes it look effortless as he teaches the rest of us how its done. He has everything it takes to be a great Dad. This is proven in the fantastic son he has already raised. He is genuine and consistently loves her like she's never been loved before.
We live in Edmonds, in Snohomish County, Washington, a quaint, costal town along the Puget Sound. We are spoiled by views of the water and Olympic Mountains, beaches and waterfront parks, and a cute, walkable downtown. The city is part of the Seattle metropolitan area and is located 15 miles north of Seattle. The renowned Seattle Children’s Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center both have clinics specializing in the health and development of adopted children. We live in an area great for family fun. Seattle Children's Museum, the Pacific Science Center, and the Seattle Aquarium are a few of our favorite activities.
We live in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo. The second bedroom is our nursery, already furnished with a new crib, changing table, and chaise lounge chair. We are so excited to decorate it for the baby girl or boy that comes into our lives. Our entire home has been baby/child- proofed, certified by a Department of Social and Human Services Licensor. Just off of our back patio is a beautifully maintain courtyard for outside play and family gatherings, and requires a key for outside access. We live in a safe and secure single story, ground-level unit in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by several parks, walking trails, and the high-rated schools of the Edmonds School District.
"As Christians, even though our lives have been far from perfect, through Christ, God adopted us into his family (Rom 5:8) and we receive all the benefits of His sons and daughters. That's the blessing of adoption. The love I have for my adoptive mother grows even more, when I think about the fact that she CHOSE me. She brought me into her family and loved me as her own. My birth mother, in making that difficult decision, displayed an EXTRAORDINARY example of unconditional love. The birth of a child is a unique and special gift that God gives to the world. Adoption is not abandonment, but unconditional love from both birth and adoptive parents who partner together to provide the best environment for that special gift to be nurtured". -Gerald
Things that are important to me...
I am a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love sharing the good news of Christ because it's a message of faith, hope, and love. We strive to build our home on these virtues. I believe a healthy environment in which a child can grow, is one that stands on biblical principles, saturated with love and trust.
I love health and fitness. I believe it is important to be healthy and fit because it effects every aspect of our lives. Eating healthy and staying active are regular practices of our family and are among the foundations of our well being.
I enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. I love the smile of satisfaction my wife gives me every time she eats something I've prepared.
My personal mission in life includes helping people discover their God-given gifts and purpose. As I grow personally, I try to bring out the best in my loved ones as well. I'm looking forward to loving, nurturing, and raising the child or children with whom God blesses my wife and me. It will be exciting to take part in raising the next world changer!
"I'm so excited to become a first-time Mom through adoption! I have always had the desire to adopt. When thinking about my future family, adopting would always be right there on my heart. I’ve always thought it to be such a beautiful thing for everyone involved. When I met my husband and learned that not only was he himself adopted, but that we were unable to have children naturally, it was confirmation that he was the man I was meant to marry and that ADOPTION is the way we are meant to grow our family". -LeAuna
Things that are important to me...
I work in healthcare so health and fitness are part of my everyday life, at work and at home. I enjoy finding new ways of staying active and finding foods that are healthy, but still delicious and fun. I'm a label-reader because I believe its important to know what we're putting in and on our bodies. Offering health and fitness advice is a huge part of my job so I try hard to set an example for my patients and my family.
I love to travel! It reminds me that this world is so much bigger than what I see on a day to day basis. Travel also allows us to see and experience and enjoy all this world has to offer. We plan to continue to travel as our family grows.
I believe it is so important to teach our children to love themselves. God created them exactly the way they were meant to be. The color of their skin, the texture of their hair, their talents and interests were all gifted to them so that they can be a blessing to others. Who we are and how we look make the world a more interesting and beautiful place.
Our family's financial security is very important to me. There's a peace that comes with knowing we're prepared for emergencies. There is also peace in knowing we can leave an inheritance to our children. Proverbs 13:22 says "a good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children". It gives them a head start on the challenges they're going to face in life.
