We met during Spring Break in 1997 while in Panama City on a Mission Trip. We got married in 2000. Together we did Christian ministry for almost ten years before settling into the role of educators. We are still very active in our church.
We love travel and adventures, often combining multiple destinations into one vacation. For Andy’s 40th we went to Disney World and Universal Studios. We are still kids at heart. We also enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, or walking around the nearby community park.
Family life: Andy is the oldest child in his family and has one sister. Stormy is the youngest of two, also with one sister. Stormy’s sister has one biological child and has adopted three more that are bi-racial (Caucasian and Hispanic). When we get together there are lots of children having fun.
Why Adoption?: We had been praying about adoption because of infertility issues. We met with some friends and had decided to just be a family of two, but after some time we realized that neither of us had peace with that decision. After this we began looking into adoption. We have been praying about this for some time and we have been led to a place where we are ready to move forward. We know many people who have been blessed by the adoption process. We understand this will change our family dynamic and bless us more than we can know right now. We are ready for the exciting journey God has for us through this process.
We currently live in a three bedroom home next to a school. Since Stormy started her doctorate, it doesn’t make sense to buy our “forever” home. This is a great neighborhood though. It is an older house and for now this is a great place for us to be. We are ¾ of a mile from an expansive community park and in a neighborhood with charming older houses. It’s a safe house. We have an alarm. Even though the house is older it has been updated with the most current appliances and everything we need.
Our new place is much bigger and has room for a nursery and a guest bedroom. It also has a little nook for a small office.
It’s pretty close to several different parks, one of which has a lit trail at night and often hosts community events. We are very close to downtown. In fact Santa was outside our house one December night as he was waiting for our tree lighting ceremony. We were able to walk to that event from our home. We also live very close to a school that is about to have Pre-K placed there. This means a playground will be in the same area as us. And as a member of the school district, I know that I will be able to use that playground on the occasional weekend!
