Outdoorsy Family With Room for Another Adventurer

Hi there!

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. While it's hard to fit all the important information about us in a few paragraphs, we will do our best to provide enough information to paint a picture of our family's values, hobbies, and day-to-day happenings so you can see if they are in line with your own priorities.

We are currently a family of three humans - Seth, Bethany, and our son Everett - and our pup Charlie. We strive to maintain a healthy, simple, balanced life with a "work hard, play hard" mentality. While we both love our jobs, our family comes first, and we prioritize spending time with the people we love. We are warm, open, extroverted folks who love people and being in community. As a family, we love making memories outside; we spend many weekends taking our camper to explore new places. We also do a lot of hiking, biking, skiing, and backpacking. Since our extended family lives out of state (Michigan and Georgia) we spend time traveling to see them as well; a large chunk of our summers are spent at lakefront houses in Michigan.

We own a home in the suburbs of Salt Lake City, Utah. The neighborhood we live in is quiet and safe with friendly neighbors. Our home has 4 beds and 4 baths, plus a playroom and a large backyard with plenty of room to play, complete with a swingset (and a bike riding area in the works.) We absolutely love where we live due to being so close to the mountains.

Finally, the most important thing to our family is our faith. We are non-denominational Christians, and our faith is the center of our lives. For us, being a Christian means resting in the knowledge that we are fully known and fully loved by God, as well as following Jesus's teachings of loving and serving others, giving generously, pursuing peace and reconciliation, forgiving those who've wronged us, and seeking forgiveness of those we've wronged. We also fully acknowledge that the Christian church has, in both past and present times, caused harm and pain. We are committed to living out a faith that honors people's experiences and recognizes the inherent worth, value, and dignity of every human being.

We would love to add another child to our family to share all that we've mentioned above. Thank you for your time! Feel free to read on for a few more details about us.

Who We Are

We met in our mid-twenties through a group of mutual friends. To this day, Seth insists he fell for Bethany at their first meeting... but if she's honest, Bethany will admit that at the beginning she thought Seth wore a bit too much Carhartt for her taste. As we began interacting in groups doing various adventurous activities - skiing, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and outdoor photography - we became close friends, and Bethany began to appreciate (or at least overlook) the amount of torn Carhartt pants Seth owned. As the months passed, we realized more and more that our goals, dreams, and values aligned, and our strengths complimented one another's. We waited a bit to begin dating, as we knew we really wanted to make sure we were solid for the long haul. Seth proposed to Bethany at the top of a rock climbing route in front of their closest friends (he joked that he chose that because she was roped in and couldn't leave). We married in June 2012 and threw a party with lots of family and friends, complete with lots of dancing, remote control boats, and a dunk tank (yes, a dunk tank).

We've been adventuring and having fun ever since, although we have also experienced many trials as well. When we have experienced tough times in our marriage, we've always remained steadfast in our commitment to each other, and have never even considered separating. We support each other in pursuing our own goals while prioritizing our faith and family. We love to adventure together, and prioritize having fun outdoors.

A bit about us individually - Bethany is a school social worker at a local elementary school, and has worked in schools for over 15 years. In the past, she has also worked as a teacher, behavior specialist, and instructional coach supporting teachers. She loves working with kids in the school setting and is dedicated to helping kids be happy and successful. She is also beginning to do counseling with kids and adults in a private practice setting. In addition to the mental health field, Bethany also loves hiking, skiing, running, and writing. She currently has an active blog - if you'd like to read more, feel free to check it out at www.motherbearing.com. Friends describe Bethany as creative, kind, loving, and loyal.

Seth works as a maintenance supervisor at a ski lodge in Alta, Utah. He is very handy and has been described as a "jack of all trades". He keeps the hotel running with both his ability to fix anything and everything, as well as his friendly and open nature as he interacts with and entertains guests. He is well-loved and highly regarded amongst his coworkers. For a few weeks in the fall, Seth also works as a wilderness guide, taking hunting clients into the mountains. Seth loves hunting, skiing, horses, biking, and most of all, exploring in the mountains with his family. Friends describe him as adventurous, kind, compassionate, supportive, and extroverted. He has a servant's heart and is often the first person to jump in whenever anyone needs a hand.

Everett is a very active, fun-loving little guy who is constantly busy playing outside, building with blocks and Legos, and using his imagination to keep himself busy. He is compassionate and in tune with others' feelings, and often wants to help others.

As a family, we love doing all thing outdoors, and adventuring is important to us. We own a camper and spend many weekends camping in the mountains, desert, or by water. We love skiing, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, and seeing new places. Making memories together in the great outdoors is a core value of our family, and we are so thankful we get to explore so many amazing places a short drive away.

Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about us! Please feel free to ask any further questions you might have.
