D&D with my nephew
My nephew, who is in the first grade, wanted to run a Dungeons & Dragons game for his Dad, my brother. I was asked to come over and help him run the game. It was a lot of fun to see him come up with challenges for his Dad’s character, Sir Papersword, to overcome. My nephew was rolling so good, and my brother was rolling so poorly. My brother nearly didn’t get past the two imps that my nephew had placed at the beginning of the castle ruins. The story unfolded that a magic sword had been stolen from the devils by the people living in the castle. The devils then took revenge on the castle, destroying it and driving out the people.
I liked how my nephew was able to come up with a story and run the game mostly on his own. Kids have some of the best stories and I love seeing the joy they have in telling them.
