Lunar New Year-Year of the Dragon
I love Lunar New Year! I love all the mythology and colors and celebrations. I love the lion dances and the twelve animal Chinese zodiacs. I especially love all the wishes for peace and prosperity in the year ahead and the time spent celebrating with family as well as honoring ancestors. The Lunar New Year is the oldest and most important holiday in China — and it’s also celebrated in countries like Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. Over 2 billion people celebrate the holiday around the world, including places like New York. I’ve celebrated Lunar New Year for the past few years and each year it only grows bigger and gets better. Unfortunately, I was unable to host my family for a Lunar New Year celebration this year, but I was still able to decorate my dining room and have a smaller celebration with my sister. CJ stopped by for a quick hi and brought some lucky mandarins. We made vegetable low mein, sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice. We’re pretty darn proud of ourselves. It was all delicious! Gong Xi Fa Chai! Praying for a little one born in the year of the dragon!
