The drive to school
Every morning is filled with a flurry of getting kids up, dressed, fed, and into the car. I double and triple check that everyone has everything they need, and then we’re finally off.
The drive to school take 35 minutes. Yes, it’s far, but the school is amazing and worth it. That 35 minutes in the dark is one of my favorite times of the day. I get to talk my 4 youngest about their plans for the day and what they are learning. This morning we talked about favorite Christmas cookies, Advent and allergies.
We made plans to bake some more Christmas cookies with Papa (they already made peanut butter and sugar cookies). Evelyn was excited to tell me that she will be the alter server this week for the first Advent mass at school. Then we discussed all kinds of weird allergies, why they happen, and different treatments. We sang along to the radio as I finished dropping them off.
After I wave my goodbyes, I turn around and make the drive back home to get started working. That 35 minutes is sometimes filled with worries, fighting, and naps, but when I’m lucky it is filled with deep conversations and love.
