Go bag
Since our brief foster care placement of a newborn, we’ve gotten 2 more calls for newborns in the NICU. Both of those cases ultimately went home with family (kinship). But, that has prompted us to pack and ready a “go bag.”
There are many things I missed having while in the NICU, like clothes to come home in, blankets for the car, and pacifiers. Most hospitals are ready and willing to help with those things, but having something special from home is soothing.
We have our bag packed, cat seat in the trunk, and are ready for the next call. I’ve done the NICU training multiple times now and will do it again if needed. Now we wait for the call and hope for a temporary or forever addition to our family.
