Daddy Sandwiches
Last night for dinner we had a house favorite, “Daddy Sandwiches.” (Named such because Justin, Dad, created them off of one of his favorite restaurant sandwiches.) Justin picked up the kids from school and took them to the grocery store to pick up fresh ingredients for dinner.
As I was finishing up my work day, I could hear the kids in the kitchen helping Dad make dinner. Everyone had a job: putting turkey on, cheese, mixing sauce, cutting tomatoes, and grilling onions. The sandwiches really are one of the fastest and easiest dinners, but because the kids get to help make their own and decide what goes on, it becomes special.
After my last meeting of the day was done, I was greeted at the dinner table to hot turkey “Daddy sandwiches.” It was a great end to a busy work day. The kids were all happy and there was no complaining about dinner from anyone.
