An afternoon hike

Today was beautiful out.  I went hiking with the kids to explore the woods around the house.  In the spring there are less thorn bushes and it’s easy to explore.

We found lots of small mushrooms, a broken fence, and tons of cool sticks.  Adventuring with the kids in our own backyard is one of my favorite things.  It’s the same woods that I trekked through as a child.  I imagined that I could live there, just like one of my favorites books,  My Side of the Mountain.  I reread it as an adult and loved it just as much.

Now that the kids are older they go hiking without me sometimes.  They always pack their backpacks with drinks and snacks.  They love to adventure just as much as I did as a child.
