We are a mixed-race family desiring to adopt an African-American or biracial baby. Thanks for getting to know us!

We truly admire your strength and courage during this time. We always want your child to know of the sacrifice and love you have for them. We hope, depending on what you are comfortable with, to have a lifelong, loving friendship with you. We are praying for you!

This adoption process has never felt like a last resort for us. Adoption has been a goal I (Rachel) have had since I was six years old. I am biracial (African-American and Caucasian). Growing up, I would always asked if I was adopted when I was out with my mom (who is Caucasian) because of my darker skin. I vividly remember asking my mom what adoption was, and from the moment she told me about it, I KNEW in my soul that I would adopt some day. I have shared this story with Matt since we were dating, and we have both known that we would adopt in our future. In 2014, we were blessed to be matched with our daughter's amazing birthmom, and Jada was born in July of that year. She is the light of our lives! We maintain an open and wonderful relationship with Jada's birth family and talk to her often about her special adoption story.

We promise to love, cherish, and provide a well-rounded positive life for your child. They will be loved unconditionally, and they will always know the love you have for them. We are open to letters, phone calls, pictures, and visits if that is something you're comfortable with.

Please feel free to contact us anytime by phone or text 832-483-4345, or by e-mail raetayphoto@yahoo.com. We are looking forward to getting to know you. Also, please watch this video about us and our daughter's adoption: https://vimeo.com/160955084/cacb7b3e8c

Who We Are

Matt and I met on a cold, snowy night snowboarding at a local ski resort while we were both attending college. I thought Matt was really cute! He asked me on our first date to a rodeo, and I just knew I was going to marry him from that point on. We were married in December 2008 surrounded by our closest family and friends. It was one of the happiest day of our lives.

We both graduated college in 2011, and have pursued careers that we love. Rachel taught 1st grade, before starting her wedding photography business. Matt worked for a welding company as an accountant for over 5 years, and recently started an Amazon business and runs a company's online sales.

In 2014 we started our adoption journey! Our daughter's birthmom contacted us (through Adoptimist yay!) in April of 2014 and Jada was born in July 2014. We are beyond grateful for the complete love Jada's birthmom has for us and for blessing us with the privilege of being parents. It is our most treasured calling in life, and we strive to tell Jada of her adoption story and update her birthfamily with photos and videos throughout her life.

Jada is an AWESOME three year old. She attends pre-school three days a week and LOVES her teachers and classmates. She also enjoys playing soccer and gymnastics. On a typical day you can find our family at the park, going to fun activities, eating Chick-Fil-A (Jada's favorite), having dance parties in our living room, and a house FULL of laughter.

Our parenting style is full of compassion and empathy. We always want our children to feel comfortable and loved in our home. We strive to not take life too seriously! "Life is to be enjoyed, not endured" is our family motto.

We would not be where we are today without the amazing support from both of our families. We both come from extremely loving and loyal families who have been right by our sides through the adoption journey. Our parents are THE BEST GRANDPARENTS and love on our daughter like their own.

Even after 9 years, our marriage relationship is fun, easy-going, and full of non-stop laughter. We believe that a couple who plays together stays together. We love to play fetch with our puppy, play tennis, go golfing, play volleyball, and work out. Matt and I go on mobnthly dates with friends or just one on one. We also enjoy traveling to a new place each year, and it is even more fun allowing Jada to see the world's amazingness.

Our goals for our children are for them to be happy, healthy, and to grow up making lifelong memories they can continue with their own families someday. We can't wait to grow out family again through the blessing of adoption.

Adoption Diary

New do!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided I wanted lighter hair for summer. Khloe Kardashian is my hair idol, and she recently went more blonde. So I decided to be a copycat. :)

I’m a firm believer in that any woman can rock any hair style or color. I took the jump to blonde, and I LOVE my new hair! It’s more of a blonde ombre’ look, and I really like the change.

Matt’s always wanted me to go lighter, and he’s definitely a fan, too!

When your best friend has a baby…

Monica. She is my absolute best friend in the entire world. We met because both of our husbands served Christian missions in Miami together. We met in 2008, and have hung out every weekend since. She is a sister to me, and I love her to peices. I’m CONVINCED we were friends in heaven you guys. :)

Miss Monica gave birth to her first child two days ago, and I was so honored to be there in the hospital room for the whole labor and delivery. She pushed and pushed every three mintues for over 3 hours while her hubby and I cheered her on. Baby’s head was lodged in the birth canal, so she was rushed off to a C-section.

I was able to capture the tender moments of Monica and her husand meeting their baby for the frist time. My heart has never felt SO FULL. Those were the happiest tears I’ve ever cried!

I imagine this is the feeling Matt and I will feel when we get to hold our baby for the first time. Peace, ultimate happiness, and complete love. I yearn so strongly to feel these feelings with the baby who will be in our family.

Baby snuggles are the absolute best. I love that baby so much, and I’m so excited when the time comes where it’s our turn. :)
