We are a mixed-race family hoping to adopt an African-American or biracial child. Thanks for getting to know us!

We truly admire your strength and courage during this time. We always want your child to know of the sacrifice and love you have for them. We hope, depending on what you are comfortable with, to have a lifelong, loving friendship with you. We are praying for you!

This adoption process has never felt like a last resort for us. Adoption has been a goal I (Rachel) have had since I was six years old. I am biracial (African-American and Caucasian). Growing up, I would always asked if I was adopted when I was out with my mom (who is Caucasian) because of my darker skin. I vividly remember asking my mom what adoption was, and from the moment she told me about it, I KNEW in my soul that I would adopt some day. I have shared this story with Matt since we were dating, and we have both known that we would adopt in our future. In 2014, we were blessed to be matched with our daughter's amazing birthmom, and Jada was born in July of that year. She is the light of our lives! We maintain an open and wonderful relationship with Jada's birth family and talk to her often about her special adoption story.

We promise to love, cherish, and provide a well-rounded & adventurous life for your child. They will be loved unconditionally, and they will always know the love you have for them. We are open to letters, phone calls, pictures, and visits if that is something you're comfortable with.

Please feel free to contact us anytime by phone or text 832-483-4345, or by e-mail mattandracheladopt@gmail.com. We are looking forward to getting to know you. Also, please watch this video about us and our daughter's adoption: https://vimeo.com/160955084/cacb7b3e8c

Who We Are

Matt and I met on a cold, snowy night snowboarding at a local ski resort while we were both attending college in Idaho. I thought Matt was really cute! He asked me on our first date to a rodeo, and I just knew I was going to marry that blue-eyed boy. We tied the knot December 2008 surrounded by our closest family and friends. It was one of the happiest day of our lives.

We both graduated college in 2011, and have pursued careers that we love. Rachel taught 1st grade, before starting her wedding photography business. Matt worked for a welding company as an accountant for over 5 years, and recently started an Amazon business and runs a company's online sales.

In 2014 we started our adoption journey! Our daughter's birthmom contacted us (through Adoptimist yay!) in April of 2014 and Jada was born in July 2014. We are beyond grateful for the complete love Jada's birthmom has for us and for blessing us with the privilege of being parents. It is our most treasured calling in life, and we strive to tell Jada of her adoption story and update her birthfamily with photos and videos throughout her life.

Jada is an AWESOME three year old. She attends pre-school three days a week and LOVES her teachers and classmates. She also enjoys playing soccer and gymnastics. On a typical day you can find our family at the park, baking treats, going to fun activities, eating Chick-Fil-A (Jada's favorite), having dance parties in our living room, and a house FULL of laughter.

Our parenting style is full of compassion and empathy. We always want our children to feel comfortable and loved in our home. We strive to not take life too seriously! "Life is to be enjoyed, not endured" is our family motto.

We would not be where we are today without the amazing support from both of our families. We both come from extremely loving and loyal families who have been right by our sides through the adoption journey. Our parents are THE BEST GRANDPARENTS and love on our daughter like their own.

Even after 9 years, our marriage relationship is fun, easy-going, and full of non-stop laughter. We believe that a couple who plays together stays together. We love to play fetch with our puppy, play tennis, go golfing, play volleyball, and work out. Matt and I go on monthly dates with friends or just one on one. We also enjoy traveling to a new place each year, and it is even more fun allowing Jada to see the world's amazingness.

Our goals for our children are for them to be happy, healthy, and to grow up making lifelong memories they can continue with their own families someday. We can't wait to grow out family again through the blessing of adoption!

Adoption Diary

Missing our Texas Fam!

My (Rachel) entire family lives in the great state of Texas! I moved up to Idaho to go to college, and it’s where Matt and I currently live. Within the next two years, we are planning to move back to Houston! Hooray!
We both love it there (minus the crazy summer heat) and we love that we’ll be so close to my family! I’m so grateful that we are able to make 3 trips to Texas each year. This may be my Texas pride, but it really is the best state ever. :)

This is a picture of most of my Texas fam at Christmas this past year. We all dressed up in tacky Christmas attire. I missed the red and green memo lol.

Life Lately!

We FINALLY were able to watch the movie, “Frozen” this weekend. I LOVED it! Over the years we have purchased Disney blu-rays as they’re released for our movie collection for our future little ones. I think Frozen will be a family favorite. I loved how the girls didn’t need a prince to be ok! The positive message of sisterhood was very admirable. “Tangled” still is one of our favorite newer Disney movies, but Frozen is in close 2nd!

Last week, I (Rachel) was invited to attend a St. Patty’s Day dinner at one of my 1st graders house. When he first invited me, I was a little hesitant because I’d never been invited to a student’s house before! But they made me feel so comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. The student who invited me over, Coleman, is an angel! He has the sweetest demeanor, and I wish I could clone his personality into all of my students! :) The next day, was St. Patrick’s Day at school. The “naughty leprechaun” trashed our room before the students arrived in the morning. It was pretty hilarious seeing their reactions to all the naughty things the leprechaun did. It was pretty fun toilet papering the desks, throwing supplies everywhere, and putting desks on top of tables. ;)

We have been watching a lot of March Madness basketball this week!!! Matt and I had Syracuse going all the way in our brackets. :( They were beat early in the tournament and our chance to win the $1 billion dollars was ruined. Maybe next year! :)
