Our Story

Sam and Naffy met while they were studying at a university in London, UK. Sam was becoming a lawyer, and Naffy was doing her MA in Education. When they went on dates, they often met at the supermarket because they both loved cooking and good food.

Their relationship has always been about sharing food, traveling, trying new things together, and growing as a couple. Sam became a successful human rights lawyer, fighting for the rights of children. Naffy finished her Doctorate in Education and works for a non-profit in London, helping refugees and migrants learn English and settle in.

In 2021, Sam got a job offer in the US after passing the New York Bar. They decided to move to New York and now live closer to Sam's parents. Last year, they became licensed foster parents and have already taken care of three children.

What matters most to Sam and Naffy is creating a loving, caring, and supportive family environment where they can help their children become the best version of themselves.

Our Home

photo of adoptive family's home Our home is warm and welcoming. We have a lovely 1950s home with many mid-century modern features. As licensed foster parents our home is regularly inspected for safety and we also have been trained to keep our home safe. Your child's safety and wellbeing will be prioritised at all times.
The environment we live in is a quiet village and town, with good community. We have many services that we can access for children and many family friends with little ones. We live in an excellent school district and your child will benefit from the best education.

Sam

adoptive family photo - Sam I am a native New Yorker, I gew up in the Hudson Valley. After getting accepted to a University in Scotland and completing my undergrad there, I moved down to London to practice law. I worked with children in care and in custody and was able to meet their complex needs. After a decade of private practice we agreed to move back to be closer to family. I make pottery in my spare time and come from a family of artists and teachers. I have always wanted to foster and adopt, and feel I can provide support and love for a child that comes to our home.

Nafisah

adoptive family photo - Nafisah Hey there, I'm Naffy! I come from a mix of British and Malaysian backgrounds, with Scottish, Malay, Chinese, and Javanese roots.

I was born in the UK but grew up in Malaysia and returned to the UK after high school. I work as a manager in education, helping adults with their learning in government and non-profit organizations.

I'm a proud auntie to four nieces and nephews, and with Sam, we've taken care of three boys, providing them with a loving and safe home filled with activities to make them happy and healthy. Every child we've cared for, we've loved like our own.

I'm a good communicator and listener. I believe in supporting people to be the best they can be, no matter their interests. I'm caring and always try to help people if that's what they want. As a parent, I work hard to understand and meet the needs of the children we care for.

I love doing research and reading to find ways to support and enrich my child's life. I'm also assertive and will fiercely stand up for your child's rights.

If you entrust me with the privilege of being a mother to your child, I'll fight to provide everything they need for their growth, well-being, and happiness. I'll love them wholeheartedly and cherish the love you have for them through me.
