About Us

Our Story

We met in 2006 when we worked for the same telecommunications company. Nicole was a recruiter and Kurtis was in the Account department. Our offices ended up being right next to each other. We started out as friends and when Nicole was willing to help Kurtis move into his new place on the fourth of July, he knew he wanted to be more than just her friend and we started dating. After about six months of dating, we decided to become fur parents to not one but two puppies at the same time and we have had fur babies in our home ever since. As our love grew, we knew we wanted to spend our lives together, and we were married in 2008. We like to think of ourselves as loving, intelligent, responsible, and funny people and, unless our friends and family have been lying to us, we are not far from the mark. Humor is our superglue. We know the best way for us to stay connected throughout the week is with humor and thoughtful gestures. We are lucky enough to have flexible jobs. Nicole fully works from home and Kurtis works from home 3 days a week and when he’s at the office it’s a close commute. This allows us to have more time to spend together and will allow us to be more present as parents. When we are not working, we enjoy going on walks with our dog, going on scenic drives, eating ice cream, going to concerts and spending time with family. We have a lot of fun together and really enjoy being around each other, even if it’s just to go grocery shopping.

Our Home

We are both from what started out as smaller towns in northern Utah and love the feeling that comes with living away from all the noise. When we moved to Syracuse we fell in love with the community. We live close enough to the larger cities for a child to visit the zoo, museums and events while still living in a safe and comfortable area with a small-town feel. We live in a newer four-bedroom 2.5 bath home that is comfortable and inviting with plenty of room for a growing family. One of the bedrooms is completely empty and ready for a child to claim it. We also have a bonus room ready to be made into a playroom and filled with toys. We live on a 1/3 acre with a large fenced-in backyard with a small vegetable garden and fruit trees. We enjoy sitting out there under our gazebo with our outdoor fireplace going in the evenings when it’s not too hot. We live in a quiet, suburban area and our neighborhood is diverse and full of children! Our neighborhood has its own community pool, and it is a hot spot to gather in the summer. We also have big block parties each year for Easter, 4th of July, and Halloween where there are a lot of activities for the kids. We live in a safe area where kids are always riding their bikes and scooters around, setting up lemonade or sucker stands, and just having fun playing around. We are located very close to walking trails and several parks. The many schools in the area are excellent and are all very close by. We are also not far from a large amusement park that is open during the summer months and is very popular for families.

Kurtis

MEET KURTIS {through Nicole’s eyes}

Kurtis has an Associate’s degree in Accounting and has worked in the field for almost 20 years. He loves watching any kind of sport, but his favorite to watch is volleyball. He loves the outdoors whether it’s just being outside in the backyard, going for drives in the canyons, or visiting Yellowstone, he just enjoys the outside. Kurtis has a laid-back and fun personality. He is not the type to get angry and will instead talk about things in a calm, rational manner. He is so sweet, patient, and caring to all our nieces and nephews. He is always willing to help friends and family members and has such a good heart. He has a great sense of humor and makes everyone around him laugh! Kurtis is very smart and works hard to support us. I knew that Kurtis was special when we first met. His sense of humor was apparent right away and it matched my sense of humor. We get along so well and are on the same page with most things. He helps me not take things so seriously and reminds me that we don’t always have to have things planned out perfectly. He is the person I want to be around all the time. Kurtis is so cute around the children in our family and is so excited to have a chance of raising a child. He will be an amazing dad!

Nicole

MEET NICOLE {through Kurtis’s eyes}

Nicole has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and is currently working on her Master’s in Business Administration. She has worked at the same company for over 15 years and is a Regional Director of Financial Aid for a private college group. Nicole has a big heart and a very inviting personality. Her sense of humor is sharp, her work ethic is strong, and her heart is full of love for her family and friends. She has always wanted to raise a family, and she would make an amazing Mom. She grew up in a northern Utah town with a wonderful family and they spend a lot of time together (weddings, graduations, birthdays, holidays, etc.). She is an animal lover (especially dogs) and thinks that a home isn't complete without a pet. She likes to exercise and is proud that she has completed a marathon.
