About Us

Our Story

We met at an outdoor market and quickly became inseparable. We share the same core values: kindness, family, and a love of the outdoors. In 2009, we got married in a small garden wedding at sunset.

One month after our wedding, we found out Britt had uterine cancer. The cancer was completely removed surgically, and there is no concern for future health problems. We are really very lucky!! When we realized we couldn't have a family of our own, it was easy to turn our hearts to adoption. There are other adoptees in our family, and it is always something we've had in hearts.

In the first 9 years of our marriage, we built a solid foundation based on trust, respect, and love. We travelled the world together, from Cambodia to Ireland! We worked hard at our careers, even when it meant going back to school. We wanted to make sure that when we had kids we were confident in our ability to offer them financial and emotional stability.

Our son, Nate, joined our family through infant adoption in 2018, and our lives have been filled with love! He's four now, and he can't wait to be a big brother! He is sweet and soft-spoken, but also loves adventure. He has a gift for connecting with people and animals in a genuine, caring way. We know he will make an AMAZING big brother. He's patient, great at sharing, and is always fun to be around! For more about Nate, see his photo album!

Our Home

photo of adoptive family's home We own a folksy log home on 3 acres in a peaceful neighborhood near Smith Rock. We dream of planting gardens, building tree-houses, and playing games in the yard. We have fun plans for our home and family! We have a flock of egg-laying chickens and are currently preparing our back acre to raise a few alpacas (such sweet animals!)

We may be rural, but the colorful city of Bend is just a short drive away with parks, museums, and events!

adoptive family photo - Britt I had a great childhood in a large, loving family. I grew up in a small town in the Redwood forests of Northern California. As the youngest of five kids, I had plenty of fun and was never lonely! Both my parents worked in education and genuinely love kids. We were taught to value individuality and to treat everyone with kindness and respect.

I have always been a caregiver at heart. I have never been so happy and fulfilled as when I am caring for my family! I also really value using my intellectual side and I love science - I am a certified Genealogical Researcher with a post-graduate degree from Boston University. It's a great career for a stay-at-home mom! I do my work from home and on my own time.

I'm an "explorer mom". Kids have a natural desire to explore and learn about the world around them - and so do I! I love seeing the world through the eyes of a child! I really believe that motherhood should be fun, and that kids can tell when we genuinely love being around them. It also helps that I LOVE kids arts-n-crafts activities (I probably missed my calling as a kindergarten teacher).

adoptive family photo - Adam I was born in Minnesota and my family moved to Oregon when I was 7. I am a "middle child" with 3 siblings. We're an artistic family - Dad is a musician and taught us to appreciate the contributions musicians and artists make to society.

I am a professional truck driver responsible for moving freight between Bend and Portland. I work nights, and I love that I am home by breakfast and also get to eat dinner with the family before heading to work. I am specially trained and take a lot of pride in my work. I enjoy the responsibility and am very safety-oriented.

But, my real calling in life is as a Dad. I love making goofy "dad jokes" and being silly. You can often find me sitting on the floor with Nate playing with toys. I think the best dads are "hands on" and that it's important to be fully present in our kids lives.
