About Us

Our Story

We have been together for almost 5 years, married for 2.5 of those. We immediately bonded over Buffalo Bills football, bowling, movies and a strong tie to family. We both knew pretty quickly that this was it for us and we couldn't wait to get married and start a family.

Family is one of the most important things in our lives. We spend a lot of time with both sides of the family. Dawn's family includes her parents, two sisters, one brother, two brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law, 5 nephews, 3 nieces, 1 great niece and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris's family includes his parents, 2 aunts and 3 cousins. Together, they form the community that we rely on in good times and bad.

We enjoy participating in local community-based events such as fundraisers, carnivals, parades, and art shows. It is a great way to support causes in our surrounding communities. Some events we have experienced are the Gananda Rotary Haunted House, Fairport Canal Days, Webster Fireman's Parade & Carnival, Penfield Fourth of July Festivities and Perry Sidewalk Chalk Festival.

Our Home

photo of adoptive family's home We live in a small, quiet neighborhood located in Macedon, NY. Our house has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and a big fenced in backyard that we enjoy with our dog Allie and cats Baxter and Luna. Our days are filled with love, laughter and joy as we navigate the beautiful life we have created together.

Dawn

adoptive family photo - Dawn I come from a large family and family has always been important to me because of that. I spend time with family members of all ages and as my family has evolved, we have encompassed additional members through marriage. These new additions are treated the same as those who have been a part of the family for years.

I have been teaching for 11 years. I teach 9-12 graders in an urban district who are steeped in trauma. I have become very attuned to the needs of those students and it has taught me a lot about the kind of mom I want to be.

First and foremost is unconditional love. Tolerance of differences and open to whoever the children are at their center and who they may become.

Chris

adoptive family photo - Chris I come from a small farming family. I was adopted as an infant and have a very close relationship with my parents.

I was not surrounded by children in the same way Dawn was, but I have had the opportunity since meeting her. I enjoy time with our nieces and nephews and this is helping me prepare to parent. It has increased my patience and given me a better understanding of childhood behaviors and how to navigate them.
