I was born in Guyana, South America, and migrated to Brooklyn, NY with my parents and 5 siblings. I must say it was a culture shock at 10 years old. Since then, I’ve come to love and call NYC my second place of birth. I moved upstate New York a few years ago. The good news is, I still have friends and family in New York City, so I always have a place to visit!
I’m a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). I really enjoy keeping my patients comfortable and safe throughout their surgical experience. As much as I enjoy my job, I also like my play. I love spending time with family and friends, traveling, going for long hikes, nature, baking, and dancing (I apologize in advance). Of all of the things I like the most, I’d have to say laughing and making others laugh with me. I personally think I could be a comedian, others may not agree.
I’m happy to start my adoption journey. I’m in a stable career that I love. It allows me time for the more important things. I’m spiritual-minded, well-grounded, fun-loving, kind, and believe it or not humble (smile). I’m looking forward to sharing love, support, education, adventures, and laughter with this special one.
My neighborhood in upstate New York, I must say is quite different than the one I grew up in. While Brooklyn was much more fast-paced and colorful, upstate is on the more subdued side. It certainly has color, just ones made up of different hues. I’ve benefited from both styles of living. However, I enjoy my current suburban lifestyle for a family. I own a small home on a safe and quiet street with a cul-de-sac; it’s in a very good school district. It’s close to parks and has the Erie Canal within a short distance for walking, bike riding, and later kayaking and even boating. I’m looking forward to sharing my love of the outdoors through hiking and camping. I have family and friends with young ones that live close by. We have play dates in the winter (gymnastics, swimming, indoor biking, museums) and summer (swimming, zoo, camping, bonfires, beach, traveling). I can’t wait to share my neighborhood with a little one!
I’ve been raised by a single mother and have learned a lot from her successes and missteps. My mom set the precedence for trying over and over until you succeed. I’ve watched her do this time and again. This is a skill that I’ve grown from. Success doesn’t mean your get it right all the time, it means you are willing to put in the work until you get it right.
I’ve helped my younger sister raise her two children as a single parent. By watching her, I’ve learned to be more patient and that children needs to be listened to as well.
As a single female hoping to adopt, my supportive team will include my family. Let me share a bit about them. I have two older brothers that are wonderful uncles to our nieces and nephews. Uncle Dwayne is kind and very patient. He likes to do fun activities like basketball, fishing, golf, and even board games. Game nights with the family are epic. They bring a lot of laughs, some tears, and always fun memories. My other brother, uncle Floyd, is so calm and a big softie when it comes to the little ones. He’s also very protective. My sisters, Vanessa and Shivone, are so loving. They are all hands on deck for this life journey!! I’m forward to sharing them with you and your special one.
