Who We Are
The two of us met at a professional conference in Boston, MA through a mutual friend back in 2016. After the conference, we both connected on social media and we started our relationship long distance. At the time, we were both working at private, evangelical universities. We both made plans to find new careers after discovering that our employers would fire us if they found out that we were in a relationship (yes, those types of employers still exist!).
After finding new jobs, we moved in together in our first place in Saint Paul, MN in 2017 and quickly knew that marriage and an eventual family were in our future together. We've now been married for over 2 years, and are feeling more than ever ready to begin expanding our family, especially now that we've moved into a home with lots of room for expanding!
We would be remiss to not mention a very important part of our family, our two Old English Sheepdog/Poodle mix pups, Beckett and Harlow. They're both incredibly laid back dogs that love walks, playing in the backyard, and having their ears scratched (and Harlow particularly loves cuddling).
We're beyond excited to welcome in the newest addition to our family with all the love we have to give. Our home is one that is absolutely full of laughter, understanding, positivity, and a love for exploring new things together.
Last night we had the privilege of being treated to dinner at an amazing sushi restaurant in Minneapolis by our two dear friends, Rachel and Kiefer. Austin has spent the last few months working with these two to help get them into their first home, and it’s been an amazing process to see their home-owning dreams come true.
Rachel and Kiefer are just wonderful people that have been a really important part of our lives in Minnesota. They’re incredibly thoughtful, inquisitive, and care deeply for people in need. And they frequently dog sit for us while we’re out of town!
We can’t wait for Rach and Kief to become an aunt and uncle to our kiddos one day - we know they will be amazing models for love and strong relationship.
Be on the lookout for additional posts where we introduce you to some other close family friends!
Cooking good food has always been incredibly important to Austin. Whether we’re trying a new HelloFresh meal, or something Austin found on YouTube (he follows a lot of people that cook and bake professionally), our family is always adventurous with our meals. Last night we had an amazing fall squash, quinoa, and kale salad - the perfect meal for a cool October evening!
We try to make the kitchen the center of our home. It’s where we eat our meals as a family, where we host gatherings with friends, and where we hope to create lots of memories with our future children.
