We met in the Honolulu Airport in August of 2015. Christian was lost, trying to find her gate and Aaron had just finished working a flight. He walked up to her and asked if she needed help. (He walked her all the way to her gate!) A few days later, Aaron switched his schedule to make sure he worked her return flight to Portland. They quickly found out they were both Oregon State Alumni, and made plans to meet up in Ann Arbor, Michigan for their first date, a Beaver football game. Go Beavs!
Our home was brand new when we bought it, and we have enjoyed making it our own. It has three bedrooms (one is waiting to become a sunny surf-themed nursery) and three bathrooms. We have an open floorplan with plenty of room to host holidays and birthday parties. Aaron particularly loves the gym in the garage and Christian loves taking bubble baths under the orange hibiscus plant. We even have a small garden, where we grow tomatoes, sweet potatoes, strawberries and green beans. We love our neighbors - there are so many kids running around!
Aaron was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii. He inherited a love of sports from his father and a love of chocolate from his mother. As a child he was taught the importance of faith and family.
A significant memory from Aaron's childhood is having his Grandpa look over his elementary school report card. His Grandpa never focused on the letter grades, instead he explained that the most important section on the card was "plays well with others". Aaron took that lesson to heart and has always enjoyed making connections with those around him.
At the age of 20 he spent 2 years living in Haiti while serving a mission for his church. He learned to speak Haitian and loved working with the Haitian people. After finishing college he worked with incarcerated youth in Hawaii, helping them to develop strategies to manage their anger. This work experience gave Aaron a new found appreciation for a loving home and family life as a youth. Being comfortable around different types of people serves him well in his current job as a Flight Attendant. He loves that every day brings new passengers to take care of and new crew members to work with. Those who know him best would describe him as thoughtful, mellow and funny.
"I can imagine Aaron making homemade baby food-especially sweet potato, his favorite. He would be planning outdoor adventures for us every day. He will
teach our child how to surf, play volleyball, dribble a basketball
Christian is a proud Army brat and grew up in several different states including California, Hawaii and Oregon. She loves to bake, sew quilts, watch Bravo and listen to true crime podcasts. She's a former cheerleader and even served as a youth and high school cheerleading coach for over 12 years. She's her own boss and helps people buy and sell homes. She enjoys organizing, cleaning and decorating her home. She's the first person in her family to graduate from college and hopes to inspire her own child to follow in her footsteps. She loves being an OSU alumna. Her heart is service minded - she’ll be the first person to volunteer to help and to give. Not a year goes by that she hasn’t helped push a stranger’s car out of the snow. Christian has always been the "fun aunt" to her nieces and nephews and prays for her chance to be a mother herself one day soon.
“Christian is a natural-born cheerleader. She is always encouraging others to live their best life. Her optimism is refreshing and she believes that she can do anything she puts her mind to. She will have freshly baked cookies waiting after school and will be active in the PTA. I can already hear her singing the Hawaiian Color Song to our child.”
