Our Story

We met through one of our dearest friends. After a whirlwind romance, we knew this was a forever love. We moved together to Asia within a month, and never looked back. We’ve been together since 2012 and we got married two years after meeting. We lived and worked in Asia for a couple years, then moved back to the US and our jobs are now in New York - Alex in public health and humanitarian medical care, and Estelle's job is protecting nature, especially forests.

We really enjoy traveling together. We have taken trips around the US and the world together. We're adventuresome and sporty, and love the thrill of trying new things. Whether it's hiking in Indonesia, biking in New Zealand, kayaking in upstate NY, touring ancient temples in Cambodia, scuba diving in Greece, or soaking up beaches in Brazil, we're up for fun adventures around the world. It's a big part of our shared interests and we can hardly wait to introduce a child to new sights and experiences.

We're also very hospitable. There are often friends and family staying with us in our spare bedroom whenever they pass through New York. We're never happier than when cooking or grilling a dinner for them!

The other thing that really bonds us together is that we both have spent our professional lives making the world a better place and giving back to communities in need. We feel so blessed and lucky in our lives, and we believe in sharing the love.

Our family has a history with adoption. Estelle's half-sister's mom is adopted, and ultimately wrote memoirs about her adoptive mom and dad. Alex's nephew was adopted - and adored - by Alex's parents. In fact, Alex helped raise his nephew for a decade. Adoption is woven into the fabric of our lives, and we think it's the most natural thing in the world to want to adopt.

Each of us has really helped raise our nephews, and we love them with all our hearts. Today, our nephews are grown up into very special young men, and they're eagerly waiting now for a new little muffin to join the family.

We are very close to our family and friends. They enrich our lives and bring joy to our hearts. We're deeply fortunate to have these wonderful people on our journey. Our loved ones are super supportive about our choice to grow our family through adoption.

We appreciate you allowing us to share a little bit of our life with you. We hope it has given you a sense of what type of parents we'd be, our values, our home, and our community.

We'd be so honored to be matched with you - awed by your strength - and hopeful that we can be part of your life journey and give you peace with your decision. It's our deepest hope that you will choose us, but no matter what, we know you will make the right decision for your child.

If chosen as an adoptive family, we promise you that your child will grow up in a home filled with affection, laughter, sunshine, and love, and that we'll always be honest with your child about where they come from, and their story.

We Will Teach A Child…

to respect all people and live with compassion
to treat animals with kindness
to enjoy the outdoors and treasure nature
to stay curious and open-minded
to value education
to be generous
to give and receive lots of love
to remain optimistic and hopeful
We'd love to hear from you. If you want to ask us any questions, we’d be happy to answer them!

Take care,

Alex & Estelle

Our Home

photo of adoptive family's home HOME, SWEET HOME

Our beautiful, two-bedroom apartment has a gorgeous view of Northern Manhattan, as well as a nice gym and big terrace surrounded by flowers. Best of all, it's right near Central Park and a playground literally across the street!

We have lots of friends and family living close by in NY, especially Estelle's family. Our neighborhood is awesome for kids - the park has many playgrounds, ponds, meadows that are perfect for a little tyke learning how to play sports, tennis courts, and even an ice skating rink in winter, all within a 10-minute walk of where we live. Our part of town also has several good schools, lots of fun restaurants, epic museums, great libraries, a really neat community center, and several cool cafes, all around us.

Alex was born in Brazil. The country’s vibrant, fun-loving, musical culture is a big part of his proud Latino heritage. Alex's huge and close-knit, affectionate family is spread throughout Brazil and he goes back to visit them every year. We can't wait to bring a baby to dip those little toes in the bright blue waters of the beach of Ipanema and to learn some baby samba steps in Rio!

Estelle grew up half in France and half in the USA, with dual citizenship. She flies back to Paris regularly to indulge in fresh baguettes, scrumptious cheese, French art, biking through cute French villages, and to stock up on hugs and fun times with friends and family there. We're planning for our household to be totally bilingual!

Alex is warm, funny, generous, sunny, and has a wonderful calm about him. His quiet, confident chillness and his kindness puts people at ease no matter what the circumstance or place.

Born and raised in Brazil, Alex came to the USA to obtain his PhD at an Ivy League school. Afterwards, he worked in Africa and Asia, and now works for a United Nations agency in the US. His job revolves around saving babies' and kids' lives. He's truly dedicated to making the world a better place... and a more fun place!

Wherever Alex goes, he plays music, barbecues, tells jokes, welcomes people and makes them feel valued. His sunny personality can light up a room, and I can’t wait to see him as a father.

Estelle is energetic, fun-loving, determined, charismatic, and above all, caring. She cares for the nature that we all share, for the most vulnerable, for her friends, and for family. Estelle is super close to her family, a dedicated aunt, loves getting everyone together for the holidays around yummy food.

One thing you should know about Estelle is that she loves to learn. She can be a total bookworm sometimes, which is probably how she ended up at one of the best universities in the world! Her whole family is really into education and both her parents and her sister are teachers.

Estelle has traveled the world and speaks several languages (including Portuguese and Spanish from when she worked in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Guatemala). She enjoys communicating with people from every walk of life. She's also very outdoorsy and enthusiastically hikes to the highest peaks of mountains or scuba dives deep into coral reefs. Estelle is a truly adventuresome and giving soul, a faithful friend, a loving wife, and a sparkly and beautiful woman. I know that she’s going to be an incredible mother!
