Who We Are
We met in 2015 at a church event and were immediately drawn to each other’s love for Jesus, openness, passion for educational equity, and dancing skills! We started dating soon after, and a year and a half later said, “I do.” We’ve been married for four years and have absolutely loved how marriage has grown us as a couple and individually.
From the beginning of our marriage, before we found out we had fertility issues, we knew we wanted to adopt. Adoption has been a wonderful part of both our families, bringing many blessings. Elyse’s Aunt and Uncle were both adopted, and we have two beautiful adopted nephews. We are so excited to grow our family through adoption and can't wait to shower your child with love!
I (Elyse) was born in Chicago and grew up in the suburbs. I’m the youngest in my family with two older brothers. I absolutely loved my childhood! I have fond memories of annual trips to Florida, popcorn movie nights on Sunday, soccer games with dad as coach, and many nights of laughter. All of my family lives within an hour and a half of us. Mom and dad are in the suburbs, my oldest brother, sister-in-law and five kiddos live in Milwaukee, and my older brother and sister-in-law live in Chicago with their three kiddos. Henry and I cherish the time spent with family and enjoy how close we live to everyone.
I (Henry) was born in Philadelphia, raised in Cleveland, and am a happy Chicago transplant! I have an older brother (Dan) and sister (Kate), and they are both married, have four kids, and live in Cleveland, Ohio along with my parents. My sister Kate has adopted two sons. Ezekiel is from Ethiopia, and A.J. was adopted from Columbus, Ohio. Our whole family loves to vacation in Stowe, Vermont. In fact, we have vacationed there every year for the past 30 years! Even though my family is in Ohio, Elyse and I get to see them for major holidays and the occasional weekend visit.
Our Christian faith is at the center of our lives. Through the ups and downs of life we find ourselves rooted in Jesus. We attend a wonderful church near to our home with a supportive network of people.
