Josh & Rachel

We live on a farm in Missouri and we can’t wait to welcome our first child together into our hearts and home!

Hi, we are Josh and Rachel from southern Missouri where we have a farm where we raise calves, which is such a fun experience. (We farm on the side, also have day jobs) We are so excited to welcome our first child together into our hearts and home! We have been married about 4 years and can’t wait to have a little one running around the farm, playing with our dogs Charlie and Zori, and to light up our everyday lives! Josh has two sons, Jake (19) and Sy (17) and although they don't live with us we do see them a lot and are involved in their lives. We are a Christian couple & have a big extended family that all live within 20 minutes so we have a big support system. Our child will have plenty of kids to play with as several friends have babies right now and we have a little niece and nephew who can’t wait to meet their cousin! We would love to hear about your hopes and dreams for this child and will do everything possible to make that a reality.

Who We Are

We have been happily married almost 4 years. On our first date we went to Chili's and Rachel stole Josh's heart when she asked if he wanted to order off the 2 for $20 menu! Ha! Rachel being the outspoken person she is asked if Josh would ever considering having more children since she always knew she wanted to be a mom and he said yes. We knew we had great chemistry after first meeting and fell in love quickly. Rachel jumped right in to coming to sports games and dinners with Josh’s boys, Jake(19) and Sy(17). We weren't sure what path would lead to us growing our family initially, but our experience with infertility not only opened our eyes to the beauty of adoption, but also strengthened our
marriage which will allow us to be better parents.

A little about our lives:

Our week always starts with going to church on Sunday morning, followed by a lunch with Rachel's side of the family at the local Mexican restaurant. Throughout the week we live a pretty normal life, with the exception of during the spring and fall we do get to go on a quick trip out to the field to check cows for new calves before we have dinner together. Another weekly tradition is Friday night dinners at Rachel's grandparents house with all her extended family. We have a home cooked meal and afterwards we visit while the kids play games or venture outside for hide and seek. We also typically see Jake and Sy (Josh's sons) throughout the week whether it be at a baseball game or them coming by to visit and work on the farm and Josh's parents live just down the road from us. Needless to say, we have a lot of family that are close to us both in proximity and in our lives!

We really enjoy being outdoors and living on a farm definitely gives us that opportunity. We also really like to go to the river and go kayaking or just hang out with family or friends there and we live just about 5 minutes away. Rachel loves to be in the water whether it is the river, pool or occasionally the beach! We both share a love of travel so we try to go on at least two vacations a year doing things like exploring national parks or just relaxing somewhere beautiful. Living in Missouri, we are near a lot of rivers, lakes and just beautiful places to hike and explore, so we often take a quick weekend trip to see some of those.

On the other spectrum, we do really enjoy just relaxing inside and binge watching a TV series together. We seem to go through phases with everything from Fixer Upper or most recently we've gotten really into true crime shows. We always make it a priority to have dinner together each night and usually take turns throughout the week on who makes dinner. When it is nice out we often are out on the deck grilling. We can't wait to have a little one to share our lives with and teach them the things we love and learn what they will love to do as well!

Adoption Diary

Farm Life & Wisdom Teeth

The last week or so has been very busy for us! We started last weekend with catching about 250 of our calves that were being hauled off.  I was pretty nervous about this since it’s the most calves we have ever had and them all being in separate fields could make for a challenge.  Luckily, Jake and Sy and Josh’s parents came to help us Sunday evening.  Josh of course picked right in the middle of a pop up shower to do this lol, but everything actually went really well.  After everyone got dried off we went and grabbed pizza and wings and ate together to end the day. Monday Jake and Sy weren’t able to help so I skipped lunch at work to leave early and come help Josh.  I’d never actually driven the truck when pulling a cattle trailer, but Josh really needed me to so I stepped up and did it. I was almost completely successful, I only had to stop and have him help me get through a gate one time- so that’s a win in my book! Then, Friday I had to get my wisdom teeth all 4 taken out so Josh took me to St. Louis for that. I would 10/10 not recommend it, but it needed to be done.  My chest gets red and splotchy all the time- from nerves, getting hot, sometimes when I eat…..and just randomly. Anyways, apparently during the procedure they thought I was having an allergic reaction because of this and gave me some Benadryl- which did not mix well with the anesthesia because he said I couldn’t even walk to the car without falling asleep.  He definitely has a funny story about me now, but we had a pretty rough 3 hour drive home with me being out of it thinking I was choking on gauze and not knowing what was going on. Lol.  So Josh has spent the last few days nursing me back to health and I am sure is ready for me to be back to my normal self but I am very thankful he stepped up and even did all the laundry while I was recovering!

Letter to Birth Mother,

We are so thankful you are taking the time to consider us to raise your precious little one. We hope that our photos and video have given you some insight into our day to day lives, but want you to know that our future baby will be the greatest joy to us. Not only are we excited to have a little one to love, we have a whole host of family and friends who cannot wait to welcome them with open arms. We have been married almost 4 years and have known since before we got married that we wanted to have a child together.  Josh has his two boys, one who is now and adult and the other one will be at the end of the year but he’s very excited about this new chapter of our lives! Adoption has been something we have talked casually but we really felt like our hearts were being pulled in this direction when we were having trouble conceiving naturally. We decided that it was time we follow our hearts and pursue growing our family through adoption and we have just lit up with excitement through this journey.  We know that adoption will forever be a part of our child and plan to start telling them their adoption story from day one. We would like to create a life book and have everything from ultrasound pictures and continue throughout their lives.  We would love for you to be a part of that if it is something you are comfortable with. We want them to know about their birth mother and family because that family is an important part of who they are, and it always will be. We want the best for this child, and would love to be able to send you photos and letters along the way so you know your child is happy and cared for. We would also be happy to keep in contact through texts, emails and phone calls, to let you know how they are doing. We will always be honest with our child about how their birth mother loves them so much they allowed us to be their parents.  The more stories we hear from adoptees and adoptive parents the more of an open adoption we want, so we would love to hear what your hope is when it comes to this part of our story.  We will do everything in our power to make the hopes and dreams you have for your child a reality. We will give them unconditional love, the ability to choose their own path and the support to achieve their dreams. We will be the type of parents that teach them all the sports and academics they want and allow them to choose which direction they want to go. We are a Christian couple and attend church weekly and are looking forward to our child coming and learning in Sunday School with the other kids. We live in southern Missouri where we own a farm which gives us plenty of land to be able to explore and make memories with our child. We believe farm life will help to teach this child responsibility and work ethic as well as being able to enjoy the sunshine and outdoors. We can’t wait to go to school events, games, or whatever they choose to be a part of. We also love to travel and can’t wait to share that passion with our new addition.  We are praying daily that when the right birth mom reads our profile they will just “know” and reach out to us.
