It seems like Kenny and I have known each other forever. He is my family’s veterinarian and would take care of all our pets throughout the years. Our paths had crossed many times through the caring of our animals but it wasn’t until my own cat got sick that we had more direct contact with each other. I remember the night that I had to euthanize my cat. It was a very emotional time and he came over to me and gently put his arm around me. I had thought that was a very kind, emphatic thing to do. Shortly after that, I sent him a thank you card which he saved and still has displayed in his office to this day. It was six months later that I received a message from him, at first I thought “could I have forgotten to pay my bill” but then he said he was calling to ask me out on a date. On our first date, the conversation flowed so well, there was no awkwardness, we were so much in our own world that we didn’t even realize that the restaurant was closing. We knew from that date on that we were meant to be together. We got engaged in Italy during a family vacation and as they say, the rest is history. We got married in September 2009 and moved to a beautiful town in Long Island, New York. Family is our number one priority. We always knew that we wanted to have children and more than one. Kenny is an only child and I have two older brothers. Our road to building our family has definitely been an adventure. Through it, we were blessed to have our precious son but we know that our family is not complete and our hearts have so much more love to give.
We live in a beautiful home in the suburbs on Long Island, NY. Our home is warm and spacious. We love taking family walks with our doggie or riding bikes in our neighborhood. It is a very safe place for children where everyone knows one another. We have a great backyard that our son enjoys playing on his playset, pitching a tent for an overnight camp out, swimming in our pool or playing basketball. Spending time outside is one of our favorite things to do whether it’s making s’mores in our fire pit, taking care of our plants, flowers or just being together. Libraries, multiple parks, outdoor concerts, fairs and beautiful beaches are close by. The public school system is ranked one of the top in the country. We also live an hour away from New York City-so we have the best of both worlds! If we want a change of scenery and exciting things to do, we can explore the city, go to Broadway shows, museums and attend different sporting events like our beloved Yankees. Our animals are also a big part of our home. Besides our doggie, Chaos, we have a cat-Jax and our son’s bearded dragon-Toothless. We both have always had such a love and respect for animals and they will always be a big part of our lives.
Gena grew up on Long Island and worked as a social worker for over 15 years with special needs children and adults. She always loves helping people whether it’s locating services for the elderly, finding resources for special needs children or adults when she was working or just shoveling our neighbor’s driveway. Her greatest joy is being a stay at home mom. After spending time with our family, she enjoys reading, being outside whether it’s riding bikes, taking walks with our dog or going to the beach. Traveling is another favorite of hers, having the opportunity to visit different places and cultures is such an amazing thing to be able to do.
“Gena is smart loving life partner. She always puts others first, making sure everyone is happy and loved. She is an incredible mom and one of the most loyal people that I have ever known." - Kenny
Kenny also grew up on Long Island. He is a veterinarian for over 15 years and works with small animals. What he loves most about being a veterinarian is the long term bonds between himself, his clients and their pets. His dedication, empathy and patience that he gives to his patients makes him the special doctor that he is. During his free time, he enjoys playing sports (especially with our son) skiing, photography, traveling, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.
“ Kenny is a wonderful life partner. He is smart caring and fun loving. He has such a silly, playful side to him that makes everyone around him happy. We are good team and our son adores him”.-Gena
