We met when Jess was a sophomore in college. Chris had become very close with Jess’s older brother (they remain best friends to this day) and one weekend Jess came home for a visit and the rest, as they say, is history. We dated for five years and got engaged on Christmas Eve 2004. Jess was so surprised she threw the ring back at Chris, but of course said YES!
After we got married, we moved to Brooklyn and we have been living here ever since. We love to laugh and travel and can’t wait to expand our family. We have a warm and loving home that is always filled with a lot of laughter and good friends and family. We promise to provide a loving and supportive home for our child and will work hard every day to be the best parents we can be.
We are very lucky to both be close with our families. Chris is best friends with Danny, Jess’s brother. Danny and his wife Mary are our two closest friends. Chris’s parents live in New Jersey near his younger brothers, who are twins, their wives, and our nieces and nephews. We see Chris’s family about once a month.
Jess’s family still live in the Hudson Valley and in addition to speaking to them weekly, we see them monthly, as well. Our son or daughter will be the first grandchild in Jess’s family and they are thrilled about it.
Both of our families get along very well, and we often celebrate holidays and occasions as one large family. In addition to our families, we are grateful for our tight-knit circle of friends here in Brooklyn, many of whom have their own children.
We’ve lived in Brooklyn, NY for the last 14 years. We love our home, which we bought several years ago. Our favorite place to hang out at home is in our backyard, which Chris designed and renovated when we moved in. We even have a heat lamp so we can use the yard well into the fall. Whether we are hosting friends and family, or we are having a quiet weeknight meal, just us, we spend as much time out back as we can. Chris also built a small in-home studio in our finished basement so that he has flexibility to work from home and work on his own artistic endeavors.
Jess was born in Mount Vernon, a suburb of NYC and moved to the Hudson Valley when she was 13. She spent a lot of time during her childhood singing and participating in her high school’s drama club. Jess studied Theatre and Women’s Studies in college. After moving to NYC and adopting their first dog, Stone, Jess discovered a new passion for animal welfare.
Jess works for an animal welfare non-profit as their Director of Events. She plans and executes large scale fundraisers and galas to help the organization raise money to fund its mission. Jess works remotely from our home in Brooklyn.
Jess has also spent the last ten years volunteering for a grassroots dog rescue in Brooklyn. She was lucky enough to travel with the organization to the rural south in 2018 and help rescue 20+ dogs and transport them up to Brooklyn to find their forever homes. Jess can’t wait to share her passion for animals with our son or daughter and looks forward to the day they can volunteer together.
Chris was born in Long Island and moved to the Hudson Valley when he was 12. As a young child he studied classical piano. As he grew up, his interest in music deepened. Chris spent most of his adolescence teaching himself to play guitar, furthering his passion for music, and playing in bands. He has known since he was 15 that he wanted to make music his livelihood.
Chris is a musician, engineer, producer, and part owner of one of the largest recording studios in NYC. He plays the guitar, piano, bass, and drums and has been recording music since he was a teenager. Chris has a very flexible schedule and will be spending part of the week as the primary caregiver for our son or daughter.
Chris also loves to cook and can’t wait until our child is old enough to spend time in the kitchen with him. There is nothing we love more than to host our friends and family at our home in Brooklyn, especially in the warmer weather when we can hang out in our backyard.
