We are a mixed-race couple; Lance is originally from Iowa and Fernanda is from Brazil. We have been married for 12 years and together for 18 years.
We met online as we both had just recently moved to Seattle and didn't know many people. We went to Fremont Solstice Fair for our first date and have not been apart since.
We are a loving couple best friends and really enjoy spending time together. Our favorite thing to do is to travel- we love to research places and different cultures. We have visited over 30 countries so far.
Family is extremely important to us, especially since Lance was adopted at birth. We make an effort to see my family in Brazil at least once a year, but in the meantime, we are surrounded by friends who are like family to us.
This journey to parenthood has provided so many learning opportunities, and we are humbled by the chance to adopt and become parents.
We have a lovely home in the beautiful city of Edmonds, Washington. We have 5 bedrooms and our child will have their own bedroom right next to ours.
We have a huge backyard perfect for a playset or just running around.
We have 2 hilarious dogs: Lola and Loki. Lola is a 10 year old Boston Terrier and Loki is a 3 year old French Bulldog.
We live very close to 3 schools, 2 major hospitals, the waterfront, and parks, including Yost park, where we can walk, play and swim.
I was born in Brazil and immigrated in 2000 to the United States. I moved here during my college years to improve my English via a program called Au Pair. In this program you work as a nanny for an American family. I worked as a nanny for 8 years and have raised ( and potty trained) 4 different children.
I had plans to return home after 1 year, but then I met Lance and now I have been here for 20 years.
I grew up in a traditional Latin family, and my parents are still married (42 years!) and have one sister. All my family still lives in Brazil but we video chat every Sunday and we visit at least once a year.
I believe I am a very loyal friend and my best trait is to be positive and persistent.
I was born in Iowa and as mentioned before, adopted at birth. My parents were always upfront with me and since I can remember I knew I had been chosen by them.
I grew up with a large family with many cousins and aunts and uncles around me. My summers were spent in farm with my grandparents, where I got to really enjoy the outdoors and play with animals.
Later in life I moved to Arizona for college and I really fell in love with the desert.
After graduating I moved to Colorado for a job, and that same company later moved me to Seattle.
I have a successful career in technology sales and worked for Microsoft for 11 years before accepting a new role at Amazon.
I love animals and music, and one of our favorite things to do is to attend live concerts.
I believe my best trait is to be patient and thoughtful. I also know that being adopted myself will really help me connect with our child and guide them with any questions.
