We are not a pumpkin spice family…**
But we do love fall.
New York shines bright in the fall. The leaves give a natural light show, from north to south. There are farms everywhere for prime pumpkin and picking. And Washington Irving’s “Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” with the Headless Horseman, was created here, making the area all that more spook-tacular.
We get into it each year. We go to a farm for apple picking and pie baking. (Random fact: Suzy used to have a fun side hobby selling homemade pies to a local farm here, and they would sell out before she even got them out of the car.) We scare up pumpkins and eat cider donuts. And we don’t need to go anywhere to leaf peep. It’s gorgeous right where we are. The peak week is always right around Halloween.
But it’s just great to be outside. Over the weekend we walked — and Gigi scooted — on a rail trail around a gorgeous lake. The temperature has been perfect. The air feels so nice — even under a mask.
We are also planning our Halloween costumes. Gigi is in charge, as always, so we’ve cycled through a few themes and will be deciding on one this week.
So that’s what we’re up to these days — and enjoying every colorful moment.
Bye for now,
***No offense to pumpkin spice fans. LOL.
