We have known each other since childhood, but it wasn't until our mid to late twenties that we realized our love for one another. (Actually, Peter was 'Kenzie's first crush when she was just 10 years old and always admired him, but it took Peter a little longer to notice her... ;) But it was all well worth the wait. We have been happily married now for almost 6 years. We dated for 1 year before tying the knot.
While dating we would talk about our dreams of one day having a family, and owning our own home, etc. We are both do-it-yourself type folks, and Peter knows how to build it all. We joke that MacKenzie dreams it, and Peter builds it. We've always had a good working relationship within our marriage, and enjoy one another's creativity.
Our family is most important to us next to our relationship with the Lord. We see that raising children is one of life's greatest blessings, and we have such a heart to grow our family. We knew from day 1 as a couple that adoption was to be a part of our family's make-up.
We have suffered losses in trying to have our own biological children, and yet it has only drawn us closer as a family, and in seeing the important things in life are the people that fill it. In Septempber of 2017 we were blessed with being able to have our son, Phinehas. He is 2 1/2 now and is a loving, happy, content little boy. He loves reading books, going for walks, baking cookies with MacKenzie, and then being outside building and tinkering around with Peter. We have been working with him on some verse memorization, colors and counting to 10. He has been a very fast learner! We so desire for our son to be a big brother, and for our arms to be fuller than they already are.
Peter is 1 of 7 children and MacKenzie is 1 of 4. Growing up in loving homes, surrounded by siblings they had similar upbringings. Both grew up involved in sports and also helping care for their small family farms. After high school Peter went into the military and became a rescue swimmer for the Navy. MacKenzie went overseas to Israel where she lived and volunteered two years for a Christian organization, Bridges for Peace. We both saw the importance of seeing the world and will encourage our children to do the same.
Peter now works as a concrete finisher for a local union construction company. In his spare time he loves being outdoors and enjoys working on projects around the house. MacKenzie used to be a phlebotomist for a local hospital, but came home to be a stay-at-home Mom once they started a family. She now volunteers for the local fire department, and is in the process of obtaining her EMT certification. This position allows her to be flexible with her schedule since her main priority is wanting to be home with Phinehas and any future child.
We spend time with both sides of our family's quite a bit, as most everyone is local. Which also means lots of cousins to play with!! Our families are so excited to welcome a new little one through adoption!
Our home is a happy home, and any child will be welcomed with open, loving arms. That said, we know there is a perfect fit out there for us, and we want you to know we are praying for you and your little one.
If you have any questions for us please don't hesitate to contact us... We can't thank you enough for reading a bit of our story, and for considering us.
We live in the lower foothills of the Olympic Mountains. Small farms, open fields, and woodlands surround us. We have been bringing our farmhouse back to life since we bought it last year. We just added some chickens to the farm, and hope to add beef cows later on in the year. Our home sits on 13+ acres so there's lots of adventure space for kids as they grow!
