Our story began seven years ago. We had both moved to the same small town at the same time. Ethan moved to manage a ranch for the company he works for, and Casey moved to teach special education. It didn’t take long for us to find each other as the only two new people in town. We fell in love with the countryside, the community, and each other. We went together like peas and carrots! We were happily married among our family and friends in 2017. We are both passionate about our jobs. Casey continues to teach special education, and Ethan manages the ranch where we reside. When we are not working, you can find us in the outdoors. Fishing and hiking are some of our favorite hobbies. We are adventurous and love taking vacations with our families.
We feel very fortunate to have such a supportive family. They have been with us every step of the way. Our parents are thrilled to have grandchildren! Ethan is the oldest of four, so his parents will be grandparents for the first time. Ethan’s mother is sure to bake your child lots of tasty treats. Ethan’s brothers and sisters are eager to become aunts and uncles.
Casey is also one of four. Her brother has two little girls who are excited for a cousin to play with. Casey’s mother is a midwife, so babies are her business. We feel very fortunate to have her guidance. She loves playing dress up and restaurant with her grandchildren.
Growing up, we spent a lot of time at our family cabins. We are excited to take family trips to these cabins, where the kids love to ride on Grandpa’s boat and fish in the creek. Both of our families are from rural areas, so we look forward to carrying on the tradition of 4-H and attending the local county fairs. Both of us have very large extended families. When you get us all together, it’s a beautiful mess of food, children playing, laughter, and love.
Our journey to grow our family began after we were married. We decided we were ready for a family and it was time to start trying. Over the next two years, we experienced two miscarriages and infertility. During this process, we kept coming back to adoption. It had always been a discussion from the time we realized things might be difficult. After lots of prayers, we strongly feel adoption is the path we were meant to take. Everything about our decision feels right, and we are deeply committed to it. The night we opened our hearts up to adoption, we knew it was the beginning of a beautiful journey!
We live on a ranch in midwestern Illinois. Our house is surrounded by acres of woods and lakes. Our house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We cannot wait to share our home with a child. We envision ourselves taking your child camping and fishing and having picnics around the ranch during the day and catching lightning bugs at night. We live in one of those towns where everyone knows everyone. The people here take care of each other, and you can bet they will take care of your child. We love the school where Casey works. They keep class sizes small and are always bringing in new programs and services. It’s a wonderful place to live, and we feel grateful to have found it.
I love being in the outdoors. Running and hiking are two of my favorite hobbies. I am committed to an active and healthy lifestyle. I am very passionate about my career as an educator. I go to work every day loving my job and feeling like I am making a difference in the world.
As a ranch manager my passion is wildlife. I enjoy being in the outdoors and have a deep appreciation for nature. I grew up working on dairy farms and have always loved taking care of animals. I feel very fortunate that I get to work outside every day. I cannot wait to have a child to share my knowledge and experience with.
