Making the best of COVID-19 impacts

So, coronavirus….this is a historical time and with these times comes a large variety of emotions. Anything from fear and uncertainty to hope and togetherness. Brad and I are both in education and with all of Illinois schools being closed through May, it has led to huge shift in how we do our jobs to help students learn and adjust to this environment. Similar to how we approach many challenges faced in our lives, Brad and I have taken this with as much flexibility, faith, and understanding as possible. We are also Read more »

Outdoors

We are a family that loves doing things outside. Anything from gardening to drawing with chalk to having fires and staring at stars. We’ve been lucky enough to have some decent temperatures this winter and have taken advantage. Just this past weekend, we took a trip to the zoo! Read more »

Do you want to build a snowman?

For the last 2 years, our son has not wanted much to do with snow. We’ve been patiently waiting for him to warm up to it on his own and today was the day! He helped us build a snowman, walked and sat in the snow, helped shovel, and enjoyed a sled ride. These are the types of memories we treasure most…nothing Read more »

Family time

We believe it is extremely important for a family to spend quality time together. We recently decided to take a trip to a local trampoline park. It was pretty epic and we all had an amazing time. Holidays

Christmas is our favorite holiday so we love to decorate the house, inside and out! One of our traditions is decorating the tree the Sunday after Owen’s birthday party. We listen to Christmas music and have some cocoa while decorating. Then, later in the day we watch a holiday movie together. Read more »

Movies

Brad and I believe young people do their best learning through playing rather than watching TV so we do our best to limit screen time. However, this we year, we decided to start a new tradition of seeing a movie the day before Thanksgiving. So, we took our son to his first movie in the theaters, Frozen 2. It was a huge Read more »
