Who We Are

ABOUT Danielle:

What I do:
I work in reality TV , and have produced many shows.. on MTV , Bravo, NBC, Netflix.. (so yes, I have lots of crazy stories…). Nothing surprises me. I oversee all the nuts and bolts of whats behind the screen... hiring, logistics , budget, schedule, legal matters, etc.

Would you rather live in a sailboat or an RV for the rest of your life?
I would live in a sailboat. The water gives me a sense of calm…I like being able to jump off a boat, surrounded by bodies of water , some so blue and shallow, swimming alongside fish and being able to live in a swimsuit all day..feels so liberating.

// If you could have dinner with anyone – dead or alive – who would it be?
1. My grandfather. He passed away when I was young. He migrated from Italy to Ellis Island, and spoke very little English (how brave is that?). He was wine sommelier at a high end restaurant on the lower East side of Manhattan, NY.
2. Nina Simone - The High Priestess of Soul. She sang a broad range of music , civil rights activist, strong and intelligent woman . She was/is an icon. She’s inspiring with her songs, words and being. It would be far from an interesting dinner.

// What’s the most essential thing in your purse right now?
Floss. I love to floss on the go. Overall, I’m a very simple person. I don’t wear a ton of makeup, or a lot of accessories. I’m more of a get-up-and-go-in-10-minutes type of gal.

// Complete the sentence, “I can’t live without……”
There have been a few deaths in my family recently that make me realize just how lucky I am to have my husband, family and friends. I don’t take anyone in my life for granted. And that will include you.

// Lake or Ocean?
Even though we live on the Pacific Ocean, I’d pick a lake. Freshwater can be so refreshing, and so much less sticky than saltwater. Not to mention ocean sand gets everywhere. Oh, and less scary things live in the bottom of a lake. ;)

// What scares you?
I’m a total sissy when it comes to horror/thriller movies... Freddy Creguer, Clowns, Tales from the Crypt) – I can’t do them. Oh, and heights (skyscrapers freak me out).

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the night sky?
When I travel, I love looking up at the night sky, knowing it connects all of us. And no matter where I am, I always try to find the Big Dipper!

// Do you like spicy food?
I love spicy foods. Ever since I moved to LA, my tolerance for spice has grown. We often add Cholula or a local hot sauce from our travels that I’ve picked up a long the way to most foods.

• Decisive - My wife is very decisive… she doesn’t waste a lot of time mulling things over and over (the way I do).
• Generous - It’s the Italian mother in her, but Danielle is beyond generous with friends, family, and strangers...she’s her happiest when she’s taking care of the people in her life.
• Relatable - She has a way of connecting with everyone…I think most people find her super relatable, I often joke that our friends keep me around so they have more access to her.
• Entertaining - I’m constantly entertained by her! Both because she’s quite the dancer, and because she loves entertaining friends and family!
• Beautiful - She is a beautiful person - inside and out.

What I do:
I have the best job in the world. I come up with creative ideas for TV shows - mainly reality and competition-based shows.... I’ve worked on everything from MTV’s Road Rules to Top Chef, Finding Prince Charming to The Titan Games with Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock).

Would you rather live in a sailboat or an RV for the rest of your life?
I’d love to say sailboat - I grew up around boats and my father is a lifelong sailor. I also love the ocean and just about any water activity. However, given the choice for the rest of my life - I would choose RV. Think about the variety of places we could go!

// If you could have dinner with anyone – dead or alive – who would it be?
Bob Marley. i've always admired the duality of his music and how he brought attention to overlooked/ignored populations in the world.

// Pick one: unlimited sushi for life or unlimited tacos for life?
Ok, this is tough, but I’m going to say tacos… technically a taco can be filled with almost anything, so if I got a hankering for sushi, I’d make myself a nice fish taco.

// Lake or Ocean?
I’ll take either - I love the water and would make the most of whichever it is. If I really have to pick though I'm an ocean person…which is why we live on the beach. I love waves and the power of the ocean… I've loved it since my family moved to California when I was 5 or 6. My dad was a surfer and gave me a great gift by teaching me respect for the ocean, but more importantly how to enjoy it. I hope to do the same for our kids.

// What scares you?
Loved ones being harmed. And dancing!

// What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the night sky?
I still feel a sense of wonder and possibility. When I’m out and away from LA, looking up at the vastness of the sky is such a good reminder that there’s a lot out there.

// Fred in Five Words (picked by Danielle)
• Adventurer - He's always interested in trying something new or finding the off-the-beaten path place to go.
• Factual - He needs to have the facts..whether he’s giving it or hearing it.
• Witty - He comes up with funny things to say SO fast. (I actually made up a song and sang it to him the day before our wedding..it was about his quick wit;)
• Playful - If he could live in a jungle gym, listen to comedians, and crack jokes with his friends... he would do it all day.
• Unique - There is no one like Fred. He’s simple, but complex. He has so much to say, but he’s particular about who he says it to. He’s an oddball guy, but that’s why I love him.

How we Met:
Our love literally spans multiple continents. The first time we were introduced was in South Africa (we were working on two separate TV shows and introduced through colleagues). Second time was on Venice Beach, CA (Danielle was on a run, when Fred practically ran right into her). But it wasn’t until the third time, in Sayulita, Mexico, that sparks flew. We were on-location together, working on a show. A “location-ship” is what we call it in our business. And we had to keep the relationship a secret from the cast and crew until the show was over.

And eight years later, we went back to Sayulita. :)
