Beau and I were lucky enough to meet through a mutual friend. I got a phone call one night, from a friend and she invited me to come over and make gingerbread houses with her and a few other friends. I was a little hesitant, but I decided it sounded like fun, so I went. When I first met Beau, I immediately realized that I knew his brother from some other friends, so the whole night I kept calling him his brother’s name. (Poor Beau). At the end of the night he asked for my number and I gave it to him, not knowing if I would hear from him. I had recently broken up with a previous boyfriend and so I felt like my heart needed time to heal. A few days later he called me and asked me out. I will admit we went on a few dates and I was always so unsure, yet he was so patient and always willing to support me and let me figure things out.
We dated for a year or so and we finally decided to get married! We were SO excited because we were best friends! We got married on June 15th, 2012 for time and all eternity. It was by far one of our best days!! As the years followed, we tried to have a family on our own, but it just wasn’t happening. We have come to realize that our family was meant to start a different way! We started praying and talking to other family members who had adopted, and we knew immediately that this was the route our family was meant to take.
We’ve both dreamed of becoming parents since we were little! We love and enjoy spending time with our many nieces and nephews! As we have had many late-night discussions about our family, we are so excited about the experiences we have to offer a child.
We both were raised on farms and grew up raising animals. We have learned many life lessons through raising sheep, cows, dogs, cats, pheasants, horses and having to help change the water on crops. This life style has molded us into the people we are today, and we are forever grateful for the lessons we learned! We cherish the moments we got to spend with our dads in the tractor or baking with our moms in the kitchen. We look forward to the many wonderful memories we will get to create with the future family we are given! We have so much love to give and so many fun stories about the things we have learned! We hope to get to share those with you and your family!
We recently built our dream "farmhouse” house and we couldn't be more in love with it! It sits on 5 acres out in the country with lots of wide-open space! We love waking up to seeing the occasional deer family and pheasants! We love the peace and quiet it offers from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. We have the friendliest neighbors around, a safe and tight knit community, with the best schools the area has to offer. We are only a few minutes away from several big cities!
As you see in the picture, we have a lot of yard work to do this year. We are excited to get to add our own farmhouse style to the yard! We are ecstatic to get to plant a BIG garden this year and hopefully get a few animals (goats etc.) to add to our home. We both grew up on farms and we are excited to show our kids the value of taking care of an animal and how hard work can help in everyday life.
Brooke is currently a 1st grade teacher at a local elementary. She is in her 10th year of teaching and has taught kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Teaching is her love and a passion in her life! She loves seeing the light when students finally get something they haven’t understood. Interacting with her students is the highlight of her day and she always has great stories to tell.
Brooke loves to be with her family, go camping, cook and bake for her family and friends, hang out with friends, be outdoors, and support Beau in his business. She loves to laugh, be creative and loves to help others.
A note from Beau:
Brooke is one of the most loving people I know. Her biggest passion is teaching children. The love and care she shows for them is unreal! She is the rock of our family and strives to do the best she can. She pushes me to be my best self in all that I do. She loves to bake goodies all the time, I don’t mind that one bit! We are best friends and you won’t find us very often without each other. We share a lot of the same passions in life, I guess that is why we are the best of my friends.
Beau is a business owner, along with his brother of an auto body and towing company. He is not only an owner, but also the painter. He is very talented and looks forward to going to work every day. He enjoys spending time with Brooke, camping, spending time with the shop dog Lucy, working on cars with his dad, spending time with friends and doing projects around the house.
A Note from Brooke:
One of my favorite qualities about Beau is his patience’s with others and with me. He is always kind and loving! He’s always willing to help those in need, whether it’s a DIY project or helping someone with their car on the side of the road. He is the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back and would be happy about it. He inspires me to be better every day and always helping me become my best self. I love watching how loving and caring he is with his niece’s and nephew’s. He loves to watch them laugh and giggle and will always try to cheer them up when he can! I can’t wait for him to be a dad, he will be the best!
