Dear Birthmom,

As licensed foster to adopt parents, and internationally adoptive parents who have been raising a beautiful Ethiopian girl for the last seven years, we have everything prepared to welcome another precious child or children into our family forever.

What makes our family unique is that we are all musicians, we are multi-racial, we love to travel internationally, and we have faith that our family story is being written by a divine hand.

As a Teacher and Counselor by trade, our life’s work is pouring into children’s lives and helping them become who they were created to be. We cannot wait to connect with you and take the next steps on this journey.

Who We Are

We met on the elementary school bus. Jeanette decided in second grade that somehow Bill was going to become her husband.

By the time we had graduated college we were fast friends, who had performed in musical events together in our area and beyond. We did not date until the end of college but by then we had established a friendship that will last a lifetime.

When we decided to build our family through adoption, it was beautiful to see how our daughter began to take on some of the characteristics of each of us. She is like Bill in that she is fabulous with technology and math. She plays the bass like it’s nobody’s business! Another gift from her dad.

She is also like Jeanette in that she genuinely cares for her friends and understands how to help others when they are going through a hard time. She’s also very generous and a creative cook. Just like her mom.

Oliviya is also an individual and we celebrate her uniqueness. We work hard to maintain her connections with Ethiopia. We visit her freinds several times per year who now live in the United States as well. We cook Ethiopian food regularly. We learned many words in her native langauge of Amharic and we also send updates and photos to biological family back in Ethiopia.

Adoption Diary

Three Plus More.

For the last two years, we have been working to build our family through adoption. Our daughter who was adopted from Ethiopia would love to have siblings!

We have two spacious, empty bedrooms that we walk by at times and think that they should be filled with children!

We have empty seats in our SUV and again we look at them and think about how someone special belongs there and we just haven’t met yet…

We are open to adopting an infant, an infant and older siblings, or multiples such as twins and triplets.

We have an amazing extended family on both sides who support us in all that we do,  so caring for more than one baby at once, while it is a daunting idea to some, is not out of the question for us!  We have caring friends who come alongside us as well. There’s simply room for more in our lives.

Adoption is really significant and important to us. We believe that the best legacy we can leave on this earth is a child who is loved in our home and who grows up to be all that they were meant to be.

Watching our daughter grow and thrive after coming from a very difficult situation, has given us the confidence that we can successfully parent a child who does not share any DNA with us. Love, not DNA, is the most important factor in this equation. And our home is full of that!

We are ready for more.
