About Me

My Story

https://www.kari-hopes-to-adopt.com

HELLO! My name is Kari.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me, but more importantly, thank you for being so brave and selfless to consider making an adoption plan. You are incredibly courageous and I hope that through reading my story you will get a feel for who I am and what kind of Mom I would be to your child

I have been dreaming about being a mom for my whole life. I love children and feel completely ready to devote my life to a child. I am emotionally, logistically and financially ready.

When I was a little girl, my favorite thing to do was to play with my dolls. I had tea parties with them and before I went to bed, I would insist on rocking them to sleep first.

When I got older, I loved babysitting my neighbor's kids and during the summers I worked as a camp counselor.

Growing up, I always believed that one day I would meet a wonderful man, settle down and have children together. As it turns out, the universe had other plans in store for me, but through it all I never gave up on my dream of one day being a mom.

I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit with my parents and my younger brother, Jonny. We have always been extremely close.

My brother, Jonny, now lives in Los Angeles where he works as a fashion stylist. Here is some of his work. Pretty cool, right? (He is so excited to be a really involved uncle. He told me that he wants to be this child's favorite uncle and spoil him or her.)

I own my home in Manhattan. It's sunny and filled with family pictures, art & books. My neighborhood is safe and I am close with my neighbors. I live near Central Park, small parks and children's playgrounds. There are many child-focused activities in my neighborhood, including music and gym classes. Best of all, my mom lives two blocks from me and she can't wait to be really involved in your child's life!

I plan to be a Mom like my parents were with my brother and me. Throughout our lives, our parents were careful to impress upon us loving values. They taught us the importance of compassion, respect, and kindness towards others. They were also very supportive, always encouraging us to explore our passions and express ourselves freely.

It is for this reason that I got into family law. Throughout my successful career, I have been the voice for those children whose needs and wants are too often ignored. My role is to make sure they live in the safest, most loving environment possible. Protecting children and animals has been my mission in life. Being a lawyer also provides financial stability to give your child a secure home and a great education.

My family and I spent a lot of time together. We went to basketball games, concerts, movies, plays, zoos, and museums. We also went skiing, horseback riding, ice skating, swimming, roller skating, bowling, water-skiing, and boating.

As a family, we loved traveling to the beach for vacations oftentimes joining up with extended family members and friends. I plan to expose your child, should you so generously choose me, to all these wonderful adventures, sports, creative activities and the arts and vacations too!

When I was 14 years old, my parents divorced but they have always remained close friends. They have even come together many times to celebrate holidays, graduations and so many other important occasions.

A positive from my parents' divorce is that my Mom met my Step-Dad Donald and for many years I was able to have 2 dads in my life.

Donald was a wonderful person and taught me so much. He took me to my first ballet, the symphony, and plays. He took us on vacation to New York City, Europe, South America, and the British West Indies. Sadly, Donald passed away two summers ago unexpectedly. Although he was our step-dad, my brother and I knew how much he loved and cared for us and we miss him every day. I hope to carry on the tradition and expose your child to as many different cultures and art forms as possible.

My dad remarried his new wife, Tina, a few years ago. I visit my Dad and Tina in the summers in Michigan and we have family get-togethers. They live in Florida in the winter.

When I visit them, we swim in their pool and go to the beach. I am so excited to have your child experience these wonderful moments along with me and a warm and welcoming extended family.

Tina has two children (Ben and Neil) who are also both married (Julie and Christie). There are even grandchildren (Kelsey, Karly, and Xander) and all are a big part of my life.

Like it was growing up in Michigan, my life in New York is filled with close friends and family. I love to go to the theater, museums, galleries, restaurants, lectures, concerts, movies, and nothing is better than to spending time in Central Park no matter what the season.

I also like time at home with my two incredibly sweet dogs, Max who is a 7-year-old Shih-poo and Gracie, an 11-month-old Poochon. I also have a 9-year-old cat, Minnie who loves to cuddle (very unusual for a cat!). All that is missing is a precious child to devote my life to.

I have several cousins that live in Denver and I am very close to them, as well. My cousin Liz and her husband, Neal, live between Denver and Seattle. Liz's older daughter, Karly, lives in Denver with her husband, Brad, and their two children, Ruby (age 5) and Jake (age 2) (and a third on the way!) and I absolutely adore them.

Liz's younger daughter, Amanda, lives in Los Angeles. I see Amanda in Los Angeles and will often coordinate my trips to Denver with Amanda so that we can see each. Traveling to different places is so much fun as well as educational and I hope to expose your child to all of these things.

I have a close extended family. My aunt and uncle live in New York as does my first cousin, Oliver, his wife, Effie, and their two children, Owen (age 11) and Marisol (age 8). Every year I host a holiday party while my mom has a party at her home on Christmas Eve. I traditionally spend the holidays with my aunt, uncle and my cousins. It is so much fun to watch Owen and Marisol open presents and then play with their new toys and games. I can't help but picture having this child joining in on the fun and watching while all my relatives dote on him or her.

I have lifelong friends that I met when I was a child and we are still in touch. I have also made close friends as an adult. My closest friend in the world is Lindsay. We met 13 years ago. She was the lawyer on the other side of one of my cases! Lindsay does not have children, but she will be best aunt. She is warm, kind and funny and has been there for me no matter what.

Valerie, another lawyer in my law firm and good friend, lives three blocks from me with her husband, Fran, and their 2-year-old daughter, Lia, and newborn baby Sophia. Lia is sweet and smart (she loves to read). I recently attended Lia's 2nd birthday party. Valerie is super excited for me to adopt and we can't wait to have playdates together

My friend Julie is like a sister to me. She is a 1st-grade teacher and single mother to her 8- year- old daughter, Molly. Julie and Molly live 5 blocks from me. Molly loves to visit me to play with Max, Gracie, and Minnie. In between our visits, she calls me to find out how they are doing.

My friend, Lydia and her husband, Anders, live two doors from me with their 2-year-old daughter, Kate, and 1-year-old daughter, Ivy. Across the hall, I'm so lucky to have my new neighbors, Jason and Joanna and their 2-year-old daughter, Lila.

Two of the other lawyers I work with are close friends, Michael and Dana. They have two children, Julian (age 14) and Olivia (age 10). Olivia and I have so much fun together. Recently the two of us spent the day together. We went to the M&M store, Dave and Busters and out for pizza. Olivia was so sweet to give me a Mother's Day present this year. The best part was the card that she made for me!

As you can probably tell from reading all this, I have so many people just waiting to embrace your child!

I hope that you have learned something about me and my hopes for your child. I would love to learn about you and to answer any questions that you may have about me or my life. I want to know what your vision is for your child and to reassure you that I will do everything in my power to make that vision a reality. Please feel free to call me at 800-844-1670 or email me at email@kari-hopes-to-adopt.com. If you have any questions about the legal process, please feel free to call my lawyer, Suzanne Nichols. Suzanne is happy to answer any of your questions and has a toll-free number where she can be reached: 800 255-1415.

I wish you peace and joy.
With love,

Kari
