We had a GREAT weekend- our town did a fantastic job with putting out guidelines for safe trick or treating, and it was a huge success.  Lots of tables set up with individual bags of candy- we walked around with our neighbors and the kids came home with a pretty good haul.  That, plus a Halloween party with Read more »

Rainy day

It’s been getting colder here in NJ, and the past few days have been very rainy.  We have a few fun Halloween plans for this weekend, all slightly modified for safety given the pandemic.  Our little Batman is VERY excited- mostly for the candy!  Halloween is such a fun holiday for the kids- I looked back Read more »

Fall fun

We’ve been keeping a pretty low profile these days, very carefully seeing friends and families outdoors.  It’s been wonderful, and I’m sad that soon we’ll be in winter in the Northeast, with less opportunity to be outside!  Mason has been back in school since September, and has been Read more »

Making the most of our time

It’s been a rough couple of months with the pandemic.  Everything cancelled, not getting to see lots of family and general stress and anxiety.  We’re trying to make the best of it though- doing camp-ins in our family room, baking bread and desserts, reading lots of books and playing outside in our kiddie Read more »

Summer time

It’s almost officially summer!  Mason wrapped up his year at the 3s program (virtually) and we’re all ready for visiting with friends and family (socially distant, but still exciting after months of lockdown!).  This summer will be different for us- we decided to keep Mason out of his regular day camp Read more »

Pandemic times

Hope all you expecting mamas are doing well in these crazy times!  Whoever thought that 2020 would hold so many surprises for us.  It’s a very scary time- we are incredibly fortunate that Sara’s job is busier than ever, and our friends and family are healthy. Our hearts go out to those who are Read more »

Weekend fun

We had a great weekend visiting with friends and family.  We love hosting, and had some great dinners Saturday and Sunday night, prepared by chef David :)  Mason loves having visitors- I think it’s because he gets them to read tons of books and give him lots of snuggles! We also had a birthday party where we Read more »

Meant to be?

We recently experienced a failed adoption.  I won’t lie, it was heartbreaking.  At the last minute, as we were getting ready to fly to meet our new baby, the birth mom decided that she wasn’t going to place him.  I get it.  As a mom, I can’t imagine the thought of placing my child in Read more »

It’s been an unusually warm winter here in NJ, and we were able to enjoy some springlike weather this past weekend.  Granted, it’s probably not great that it was 70 degrees in January, but we did try to take advantage of it!  Today, Mason started swim classes at his school- what a nice treat in the Read more »

We had a great weekend, spending time outside in the beautiful weather.  It’s so nice to see the sun after so many rainy weeks!  We took our son to his first soccer match Sunday night- he had such a blast!  We can’t wait for him to have a brother or sister to share these special events.  We Read more »

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day can be a tough one, can’t it?  I am very fortunate to have a wonderful mom who is my best friend, a very kind and loving mother-in-law and my beautiful son and husband, who show me how much they care every day.  But I always think about those whose mom’s are no longer with us, or not Read more »

Busy weekend

We had a very busy, but fun weekend!  First up, a birthday party at the zoo, where our son had his first pony ride (he loved it).  The morning started off rainy but it cleared up- we got to feed a giraffe, ride on the carousel and see the lions!  Later that evening, we went to a communion party where we danced Read more »

Staycation time

We’re taking some time this week to get things done around the house- rather than going away, we’re doing a staycation.  Since we moved recently, we have a lot of projects we want to complete.  We have some family plans this weekend for the holidays, which should be fun, and then some furniture Read more »

Anything but a lazy Sunday!

We’re so lucky that Sara’s mom (Grandma Gail) only lives about 20 minutes away.  This morning, Sara dropped our son off for a few hours, and we were able to get some housework done.  Nothing like hanging pictures, cleaning out the fridge and food shopping to make the day go by quickly.  We Read more »

Signs of spring!

We are so excited for spring and the warm weather!  It’s our first spring in our new home, and we love having a backyard to run around in.  On Sunday, we ran around, threw the ball for Murray, and dug in the garden.  The plants we planted with grandma Nancy are growing too!  Next up- shopping for Read more »
