So here we are hoping to adopt a child! To start with, we never thought we would be in a position of advertising ourselves! Honestly, it is a bit awkward and weird. But we will do our best for you to get the big themes: Be kind, Have fun, Work hard and FAMILY, FAMILY, FAMILY!
Here is a little about our journey that has brought us here. We met at Virginia Tech, dated for a bit and got married. We enjoyed it being the two of us with our previous 2 dogs and a cat for awhile and then decided we were ready to have a child. It took us several years to get pregnant but when we did the pregnancy was easy and great. We had Ruby and could not believe how great it was to be parents. We were never the couple that had planned out how many children we would have, we just knew it would be more than one. Dave has a brother and Chrissie has a twin, a stepbrother and a stepsister.
We never for a minute thought that we would not be able to have more children. After a few frustrating years of trying on our own, we decided to seek help and realized we had “unexplained secondary infertility”. So we have spent another 5 years of meds, shots, tears, procedures, miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, more tears, emergency surgery, donor eggs, lots more tears...you name it we’ve been through it. Needless to say, this has been a difficult journey for our family. But we are not done.
We decided that it wasn’t meant for us to conceive again on our own, but that didn’t mean we couldn’t still have another child. Ruby has always wanted a sibling. So here we are, hoping to be selected to adopt your child.
Our home is located on a cul-de-sac. It has 4 bedrooms and a fenced-in back yard with a playset and a small garden.
We live in a kid-friendly neighborhood with a swimming pool, walking trails, wide streets for biking, sidewalks, an elementary school, and a playground.
We are also within 5 minutes of the local YMCA, the Richmond Metro Zoo & the Children’s Museum of Richmond!
There are lots of children in our neighborhood!
Dave is FUNNY! He is a great father. He and Ruby come up with crazy games like “Academic Challenge” and racing invisible horses that have superpowers. He and Ruby also enjoy playing Lego video games. Dave is a great father and husband. He loves baseball and music. He is also a well-loved band director. Students still come back to visit him after they have graduated. That says a lot about the positive impact he has had on so many kids!
Chrissie is very CARING. She is a School Counselor. She really enjoys baking, doing crafts, going to the beach, reading, visiting new places and spending time with family. She loves being in the kitchen and having Ruby as her sous-chef! She is always coming up with new things for the family to try. For 2018: going to church on a regular basis, joining a gym (Ruby loves this--Chrissie not so much) and doing at least one service project a month.
