We met online in the Spring of 2012 and had our first date at a local restaurant. We spent the entire time, over 6 hours, talking and laughing and only ended the date after the restaurant was closing for the night. We’ve been together ever since.
Jeff proposed in Florida, at his parents home under the “diamond tree”, [it’s a tree with multiple trunks that intersect and twist around each other + there’s a large diamond in the middle made of the intersecting trunks].
We were married in 2014 in a Historic Opera House surrounded by our friends and families. A few months after we were married we purchased our home, it’s the house Kel Leigh and her sister were raised in and before that it was her maternal grandparents home. We live in a small town with the best neighbors
[Kel Leigh’s sister, brother-in-law and 6 year old nephew live next door], and are within walking distance to our historic downtown, shops, restaurants, police, fire station and the library.
We’ve each always wanted to be parents and that feeling only intensified once we met. We began trying to get pregnant right after we were married. We suffered a few miscarriages and had some tests, medications and procedures and were presented with our options of IVF or adoption. We had a lot of conversations about what we wanted for our life and how we could make that happen. The thing we kept coming back to was, we want to be parents. We want to be our childs safe place. We want to give them unwavering love and support even when they are pushing our buttons. We want to give them wonderful memories of big trips to Florida, Disney World and road trips out West, magical Christmases with traditions we had when we were kids, a home that goes all out decorating and celebrating holidays and birthdays, a great foundation of learning and striving for the things they want in life……..and the best way for us to make this happen is through adoption. We know in our hearts adoption is how we will grow our family and we are so excited to be here!
Our home is warm, cozy, comfortable and filled with laughter. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats who all get on our furniture, their favorite spot to sleep is our bed. There’s a great view of the lake from our large backyard that we can’t wait to put a swing set in! Our street is quiet with friendly neighbors and school age children.
We love our home and small town and we also enjoy that we’re just a short car ride to several metropolitan areas with cultural centers, museums and science centers.
Our home is the gathering place for our families. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthday dinners, Easter - we host all of these holidays and special occasions. We have such a supportive and loving family just waiting to welcome and love our children.
We try to have a laid back comfortable home where we will strive to have a loving, comfortable, supportive and welcoming space for our children.
I grew up in the house Jeff and I now own, with my parents and younger sister. We did everything together, dance classes, girl scouts, friends, after school activities - we were practically twins just born 15 months apart. She now lives next door with her family and we love that we will raise our children together.
My family owns a small business that my maternal grandparents started and is now owned by the third generation of my family. Hard work, honesty and integrity were the core principles I was raised on. Owning your own business is hard, demanding work. Your success or failure rests solely on your shoulders and my mother did this with grace, confidence and intellect. I look up to her in so many ways.
I am an outgoing introvert, if that’s a thing? I enjoy people, but love being home as well. I’m confident and can speak in front of groups of people but don’t enjoy being the center of attention. If you need something done or help with a project, I’m your gal! I love to help.
I’m creative, I love fully, I’m loyal and passionate. I’m also a procrastinator and I like to be in “charge”.
I've had several careers. I believe life is meant to be experienced and have so many interests - I'd really like to learn American Sign Language. I've owned my own photography studio, worked in child care, retail management + I also have my cosmetology license and massage therapist license. I currently work part time as a massage therapist at an incredible chiropractic office.
I hope our children will always know they can come to me with anything and will only receive unconditional love an support from us.
I was raised by my Father and Mother in a moderate home with my older brother. He is my only sibling and I see him daily. We work at the same business, but in different departments. We were raised Roman Catholic and attended parochial schools growing up. I'm a non-practicing Catholic and believe one doesn't need to attend church regularly to be a good Christian.
I am shy around new people and places, I'm a bit of a procrastinator and I have a sweet tooth. I'm also open minded, cautious, respectful, caring and affectionate.
I have my Bachelors Degree in History and enjoy reading historical books and watching historical movies. I also spend my time doing projects around our home, playing video games, enjoying time with
Kel Leigh and our animals.
I hope to instill in our children the significance of hard work and the importance of education and affection in ones life.
