It’s so simple

I went to my nephew’s award ceremony at his school last week and posters like this were on the walls throughout the school. I absolutely LOVED seeing this message. It’s so simple: Be nice. In a world where there seems to be so much turmoil, discrimination, and hate, it’s so important to pass on this message. Treat each other with respect and kindness. Treat each other how you would want to be treated, or how you would want your children or your parents to be treated. I was so happy to see that kids are Read more »

It’s the little things

Working in the NICU can be emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausting sometimes. When I can, and when it’s appropriate, I like to try and lighten the mood. On this day, I was in charge and decided to walk around the unit in this crazy Christmas sweater for a bit. It brought smiles to my coworkers’ and some Read more »

The Holidays

I finally bought a tree!  I had posted a picture of my decorated mantle. Now I can share my tree with you! Every year when I was growing up, our family would go on a hunt for the PERFECT Christmas tree. There are 6 of us, so agreeing on the perfect tree sometimes took a loooong time. But we always managed to get the Read more »

My Family

This last week, my family and I all met up in Arizona to say goodbye to our childhood home. Because my dad was in the military, we never had a permanent home, so my grandparents’ house was that home. I have many fond memories of this home, so saying goodbye was difficult.  Both of my grandparents have passed away Read more »

Getting festive

I absolutely LOVE this time of year! I think it’s because Christmas has always been a holiday that my family really enjoys. Growing up, we always got a REAL tree and decorated it as a family. The angel would be the last thing to go up and we would all gather around and put a hand on the angel. My Dad would then say a Read more »

Training for something worthy

A couple of years ago, I joined a group called Team in Training. It’s a group of people who train for athletic events and raise money together for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The event I signed up for was a triathlon (swimming, cycling, and running), which I had never done before. I had never even swum a lap in a Read more »

Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful for so much in my life, the list is endless. On Thanksgiving, I decided to join some friends to run the 5k Turkey Trot in north Seattle. It was an early morning, but it so was worth it! It wasn’t raining, there were actually some blue skies, and the vibe of the neighborhood was just so fun! I ran with Read more »

Fresh air

‘Tis the season to pick up unwanted germs. :( Well, I got the cold that seems to be going around and because I work with such fragile patients, I can’t go to work with even a hint of a cough or sniffle. So, I’ve been holed up in my apartment watching endless amounts of TV, taking naps and drinking fluids so Read more »

Let’s bowl!!

My niece and nephews stayed with me this weekend. I love spending time with them and I like to give my sister and brother-in-law time together every once in awhile. My time with the kids is always sweet. They love to try new things and conversations with them are never dull. They called me their “Second Mom” once Read more »

Relaxing and contemplating

I’m lucky to live about 5 minutes from a huge dog park, so I love to take my old pup, Chico, there often. I think pups need their social time too! :) And, I’ve found that it’s a good time for me to relax and think about my day or what’s been going on during the week. And, along the way, I meet friendly Read more »
