We actually first met each other at 5 years old in Sunday School. But from what we were told, it was not love at first sight! We were introduced because we BOTH had twin brothers; however, Matt and his twin brother William were more interested in becoming friends with Theresa's twin brother Chris than her.
Several years later...14 to be exact, Matt and Theresa were both invited with a group of friends to the rodeo. Matt sang his heart out during the concert to Theresa. He must have been pretty good (or at least made an impression), because they started dating shortly thereafter. Theresa went to college in California at Stanford, while Matt stayed in Texas - a proud Texas Aggie. They dated long distance the remaining 3 years of college.
Within 24 hours of Theresa graduating and moving back to Texas, Matt proposed in a bluebonnet field on his family's ranch. Matt and Theresa believe the bluebonnets never looked more beautiful and that began a lifelong love of wildflowers.
In 2013, we got married in the same church where we first met at 5 years old. It was the sweetest day surrounded by family and friends. In the past 5 years of marriage, God has grown us closer than we ever imagined as we have grown closer to Him as well. We cannot wait to add a little Wildflower to our family.
We are so excited to have recently purchased a home that we cannot wait to raise our family in. It has a big front porch (and most importantly front porch swing!) and great backyard (Rudy's favorite!), which we have already used to host our friends for a barbecue.
It is on a beautiful tree-lined street, near several parks. We love taking our dog Rudy for walks and look forward to strolling with our baby someday. We also love it, because there are several restaurants, coffee shop and stores within walking distance. We love being able to walk to breakfast on Saturday mornings. We are also walking distance to a great elementary school and middle school.
Theresa is my beautiful bride, and best friend. With her loving heart and welcoming smile, it is no surprise this girl quickly becomes friends with everyone she meets. She has a deep love of the Lord, the outdoors (especially wildflowers - like these sunflowers shown here) and enjoys leading a college Young Life bible study.
Theresa is best friends with everyone she meets. I've had the pleasure of getting to become friends with her friends from high school, college, church...basically everywhere she goes.
This girl can RUN!! She often enjoys morning runs with friends, exploring cities on foot and even ran the New York City marathon with a dear friend! Not surprisingly, Theresa had a big group of cheerleaders supporting her run.
I have had the joy of witnessing her love in how she pursues the girls in her Young Life group. They love her so much too! This photo was from when they through her a surprise birthday party.
Matt has the biggest heart of anyone I know. He loves me and our close friends and family, but what has always amazed me about Matt is how selflessly he builds relationships and cares for EVERYONE whether it be a neighbor, the guys in the bible study he leads or a coworker who needs support. Matt loves to help and is always there for those around him. I treasure his amazing heart and cannot wait to see him as a Dad.
He is a woodworker at heart. Matt is creative and loves to use his creativity around our house. He has a passion for woodworking and has built some beautiful items for our home and most recently, constructed a new fence.
I absolutely can't wait to see him as a Dad. Matt loves to play. It's been a joy to see him love my younger cousins. He is always their real life jungle gym. He is also the best uncle to our niece Margot - she lights up whenever she sees him.
Matt leads a men's bible study. It has been so cool to see his guys be knitted into our family. They even helped with our recent move!
