Our adventure really began with our 1st date. We went mini golfing and tried batting cages. Andrew was much better at these, but thankfully, we had an instant connection! Andrew loved that Erin was independent and Erin loved that Andrew joked often. We were married 3 years later at the William Penn Inn. We both loved their vintage style right away. Though our careers are important to us (Erin is a Dietitian at a dialysis center and Andrew is a Freight driver for Fed Ex), we always knew that we would like to expand our family through adoption. We do not have any other children- just our dog Markie and our cat Charlee. They are affectionate and are friendly with children.
We happen to be very passionate about animals. Erin is often researching ways to contribute to animal welfare projects and we both enjoy going to the aquarium or zoo as a weekend activity. In addition, Andrew is a huge sports fan and can often be found watching or going to a baseball or football games with friends and family. He would especially enjoy being involved as a coach of a little league team one day.
We are also very close with our extended families as you will see in our pictures. Most of our family lives close to us and are great support systems. Both of our parents enjoy babysitting their current grandchildren often and taking them to the park or reading time at the library! Caring for our nieces and nephew have taught us so much about life and helped us prepare for a little one.
We live in a suburban town about 40 minutes from Philadelphia with our dog and cat. We enjoy the pace of a suburban town, but can go into the city for events as well. We live in a 2 story town house with a fenced in back yard, which is nice for BBQs. Our neighborhood is 3 blocks away from the elementary school and has a playground. On a typical evening, you will see families and their children playing in the yard and dogs going on long walks. Previously, we lived in a condo, and moved to a home 2 years ago to make room for a child. We are very pleased with our neighborhood and the proximity of the school. We are close to places that have fun activities for children including a farm, where we pick pumpkins and Sesame Place. Most importantly, our home is filled with love.
Andrew's words about Erin:
Erin is an extremely caring person. She prides herself on being open minded and supportive. I believe she will be a wonderful parent by showing patience and allowing our child to talk openly with her. When she babysits for our nephew, her eyes light up and I know she will find the same joy as a mother.
Music- Top 40, Disney & Broadway tunes. Erin's mom used to take her to Broadway plays every year as a child.
Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Love & Basketball, Newsies
Thing to do on the weekend: Family BBQ, movie date, or going to a park with my nephew
Erin's words about Andrew:
Andrew is one of the funniest people I know. I can see him making our child laugh with silly jokes and being a great source of comfort. I know that he will always be there for our child and can't wait to see him experience this next phase of life.
Music- Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Van Halen
Movies- Jurassic Park, Superman/Batman, Major League
Weekend activity: Going to a baseball game. Andrew and his father bonded over sports.
