"They may not have my eyes, they may not have my smile, but they have all my heart."
We are Mike and Shantae from Idaho Falls, Idaho, and true story about us... we first laid eyes on each other at a Taco Bell. It was love at first bite, er, we mean sight. We've been pretty much inseparable ever since that fateful evening when the Chalupas chose our fate in the stars.
We have now been married over 12 years and are still deeply in love. We are truly each other's best friend and partner in all things. And the one thing we share the deepest commitment together on is growing our family.
We have struggled with infertility our entire marriage. After many years of heart break, discouragement, disappointment, and extensive fertility treatments we finally had the biggest breakthrough of our lives. On August 16, 2015, our little miracle boy Beau was born.
Beau has changed and blessed our lives in ways we couldn't have possibly imagined, and now we're very anxious to make Beau a big brother and have more beautiful children in our home!
There is nothing in this world that we want more than to expand our little family, and we feel strongly that adoption is now the avenue for us to take. We believe that we have been directed by God to this path, and we embrace it with our whole hearts.
We could say so much more, but perhaps all that needs to be said is this: Never could a child find a more loving home with more loving and ready parents. We say this not in boasting or in comparison, but offer that statement as a pledge... and a promise.
It all began one fateful evening at Taco Bell over 13 years ago. One of my Mike's friends had met Shantae a few days prior, and invited Mike to come along on an impromptu double date. Shantae was supposed to bring a friend for Mike. We coordinated to meet up at a Taco Bell across the street from a movie theater, where we would all grab some tacos before hitting up a movie. There Mike and his friend sat, waiting for Shantae and her friend to arrive.
Shantae got there first, and when she walked through that Taco Bell door and Mike laid his eyes on her for the first time, he didn't care about the friend she was bringing. He was completely mesmerized by Shantae! The rest is history. We started talking a lot after that night, and started dating soon after.
We have been completely inseparable ever since.
We were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple about 1 year after we met, and have now been married for over 12 years. We've been through a lot together. We love each other more now than we ever have. We are truly each other's best friend.
During our marriage we have lived in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, before deciding to move to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 2011, which is where Shantae was born and raised and has all of her family close by.
We love living in Idaho Falls! It's a quiet, family-centered community built on family values. We feel like it's a fantastic place to raise kids.
