Our story begins in 2003 while we were in college, where Sean was in the Civil Engineering program and Kathleen was studying psychology. We met through mutual friends and quickly became inseparable.
Upon graduation, we longed to blaze our own trails, create individual adventures, and truly find ourselves. We thought it best to go our separate ways.
And while we created memories and forged new friendships along the way, the one thing that was always missing was each other.
And then it hit us. . .
In 2012, Kathleen took a leap of faith. She called Sean out of the blue and we knew immediately that it was meant to be. We didn’t want to waste another moment.
We were engaged right away and married a year later!
And that’s when the adventure really began!
We moved into our beautiful house shortly after the wedding, and adopted a puppy! We also found a shared interest in travel, and took every opportunity that we could to see the world together!
For our second anniversary, we traveled to Paris. It was there that we made the decision to expand our family.
Shortly thereafter, we were delighted by the news that Kathleen was expecting.
The unthinkable happened…
After enjoying 34 weeks of a happy and healthy pregnancy, Kathleen recognized that something was wrong. She was admitted to the hospital with complications to the pregnancy.
After a difficult labor and emergency surgery, beautiful baby Fiona was born on September 12, 2016. But instead of hearing the telltale cries of a healthy newborn, there was only silence. Fiona was born asleep. We were in shock and utterly heartbroken.
From the day we lost Fiona, we have been searching for a way to remedy the emptiness in our home and our hearts. We’ve traveled the world, enjoyed meals with friends, filled our home with new furniture and added another puppy.
But it’s just not the same . . . Though we’ve tried everything we can think of; nothing fills the void left by sweet Fiona.
We are coping with the loss of our daughter every single day, and are not prepared for the risks that another pregnancy may bring us. However, we desperately want to be parents.
We would welcome your child into our lives with open hearts and an abundance of love to give.
We thank you for taking the time to get to know us. Although the road that led us here has been rocky, we are excited to embrace this new journey, and feel that it is Fiona’s wish for us to adopt a child.
We are truly ready to be parents, and should you choose to give us the gift of raising your child, this will be our promise to you:
We promise that we will raise this child in a happy home surrounded by the same love and respect that we received from our own parents. We promise to support this child as he or she grows physically, emotionally, and spiritually in any direction that their heart desires. And we promise to stop at nothing to ensure that every opportunity is provided for this child to live out their dreams.
We look forward to hearing from you, and welcome open discussion or any questions that you may have for us.
Our home is located in as suburban city in Northeastern New Jersey. We are walking distance to all of our local schools and downtown where there is a direct train line to New York City. Our home is conveniently located near malls, shopping centers, grocery stores, restaurants, etc.
We have a four bedroom house that we recently renovated. Kathleen is an aspiring interior decorator and has worked tirelessly to make our house a home we can love. As a contractor, Sean has the ability to handle all maintenance issues (and Kathleen's design ideas) that may come up.
As the daughter of Irish immigrants and a first generation American citizen, Kathleen is fiercely proud of her family’s heritage, and is excited to raise her son or daughter with the longstanding family traditions that she holds dear. One of Kathleen's core values is instilling the value of education into her child. Kathleen holds a Master of Arts in School Counseling and has worked as a high school counselor for over 10 years. She has recently taken an interest in the human-animal bond in regards to counseling and is actively working with her black Labrador, Paddy, to certify him as a Therapy Dog so that he can assist her in her role as a counselor.
Kathleen has a passion for fashion! One of her dreams is to open a clothing and accessories boutique of her own. So rest assured, her son or daughter will always be the best-dressed child on the block. Kathleen loves interior decorating and crafting, so it is not unlikely to find her scanning Pinterest for ways to make her house a warm and welcoming home. Creating centerpieces, rehabbing furniture, or picking the perfect color to paint a wall is Kathleen's idea of a fun weekend project.
Kathleen's parents have sadly both passed away. But Kathleen remains close with her brother and his family who live nearby, seeing them during holidays and traveling with them on a yearly family vacation to the beach! Kathleen also has an extended network of friends whom she considers family and loves to travel and spend as much time as possible with.
Kathleen is a smart, strong, loving and beautiful woman. She has dedicated her life to ensuring the future education and emotional strength of her students. Kathleen enjoys fashion and interior design. She views our home as a constant work in progress, always improving the style, function and beauty of our home. In the past five years she has suffered the loss of both of her parents and our daughter Fiona. The strength and perseverance she has shown in this time is truly remarkable. I am honored and privileged to live my life with her.
Sean grew up in a tight knit family in Pennsylvania. He was blessed with an adventurous spirit and love for all things outdoors, especially winter sports. Sean spent his early years riding motorcycles and ATV’s and is still an avid skier and ice hockey player. Sean looks forward to the day when he can hit the slopes with his new son or daughter!
Sean graduated college with a degree in Civil Engineering and owns and operates a construction company, specializing in school additions and renovations. This affords him the luxury to work from home, ensuring that he will never miss out on any of his sons or daughters developmental milestones, events, or activities.
Sean's mother fell ill and passed away when he was young. Surviving this experience has taught him to prioritize his relationships with friends and family members no matter where they live. Therefore his child can expect to travel all over the country visiting friends, family, and more cousins that he or she could ever count! This child will be exposed to life on both coasts, as Sean's father and stepmother recently retired in Southern California and are excited to be grandparents. Sean's sister is a professor at a university close to where Sean and Kathleen live, and can’t wait to bond with her new niece or nephew.
Sean is a kind, selfless and generous soul. He is intelligent and honest. He does whatever he can to make his loved ones happy. Sean loves to be outdoors. He loves hiking, skiing, playing hockey and spending time with me and the pups, Orla and Paddy. I am very lucky to have such a wonderful partner in life.
