Believing lightning strikes twice

Hi! We are Rob, Lisa and Orion!
Thank you for taking the time to check out our page. We have been married for 7 years. Lisa comes from a huge family with lots of siblings, nieces and nephews. Rob has a younger sister who has two young children of her own. We have the love and support of all of our family cheering us on throughout this journey of parenthood through the choice of adoption. That's especially true because they have stood by us through this process before and absolutely ADORE our adopted son Orion! We hit the jackpot once before with a birth mother we met here on Adoptimist. She blessed us beyond words when she chose us to raise our son. He is wickedly smart, sweet, funny, full of love and life. Everyday we are in awe of his awesomeness. No doubt he is going to make the best big brother one day!

Strong family values is just one of the few things we promise to instill in our children. That's why we are totally open to the idea of an open adoption if you choose, or if you'd rather a closed one, we are ok with that too. But no matter what, if you were to honor us in raising your child, we will always consider you as a part of our family. And we will also vow to make sure our child learns about his or her heritage and culture and be free to embrace it.

We know that this decision is an incredibly difficult one for you, and we would love to help you through this unexpected journey. You are incredibly brave to be here, and we support you through this process all the way. We vow to unconditionally love, honor, respect, teach and protect OUR (as in yours and ours) child, with no exceptions.

We would love to hear from you! Please feel free to reach out at 516.547.3790 or email at You can also reach out to our attorney Jeanine Castagna should you have any questions about us or the process. Her contact is or 516.495.7906.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and learn more about us. We look forward to getting to know you!

With LOVE and ALOHA,
Rob, Lisa and Orion

Who We Are

We met 7 years ago in California on the set of a TV show. We both work behind the camera to help make TV & movies. At first our relationship was only a friendship. After all, Lisa was Rob's boss! It wasn't long thereafter we realized we had similar interests. We share the same taste in music, our desire to travel, how we were raised, and how we wanted to raise our family with our Christian beliefs. Rob's entire family is Puerto Rican. He is the first of his generation to be born in the states. Early in his childhood, he lived in Zurich, Switzerland where he was exposed to many cultures. Lisa lived in Delaware, Alabama and Hawaii, where she moved on her own. Hawaii is where she considers home, but has since moved to Los Angeles and New York. Based on our individual experiences, something that is profoundly important to us is the value and respect for all cultures, ethnicities, and individuality. In our eyes, everyone is created equal. No exceptions. This is one of the fundamental values that attracted us to each other.

From our first date to our wedding date, is exactly 10 months to the day. Obviously it didn't take us long to know we were meant to be together. During those 10 months, we moved from Los Angeles to New York for work. We drove across the country together and on the way we met each other's families. We stopped in Texas, Alabama, Florida & Delaware. We met all of Lisa's brothers & sisters (She's the youngest of 5!) and we met Rob's family (He's the oldest child of 2). Not long after we settled in New York, we got married.

Orion came into our life in 2018. We developed a strong connection with his birth mother when she was three months pregnant. We were there for his birth in the delivery room. Because the date of birth was planned, several family members came in to be there with us. Orion's birth mom got to meet a lot of our family at that time, and these are memories that are so special to us. We continue to keep in touch with his birth mom and her parents on a regular basis. They will always be a part of our family.

Orion is not our only baby. Our first born is a long-hair chihuahua named Meli. She's 6 years old now and travels with us everywhere.

We love the beach and Hawaii and it's culture is a very important part of our lives. We usually travel at least 2 or 3 times a year back to Hawaii to see family and friends. We also visit our family in Florida, Alabama, Texas, Missouri, and Delaware quite often. Family is everything to us. We want Orion and his future siblings to know and experience the importance of strong family values.

Adoption Diary

No words can describe how truly blessed I feel that Rob is my husband. He is my best friend, my rock. Our partnership is easy, no drama. Weekends like this one are my favorite. Just him and I, at home (staying out of the NY cold!), cooking, watching movies and just being together. We talk, not only catching up on the mundane of the week, but really talk about our life, our goals and how this experience of adoption is effecting us. It’s a whirlwind of emotions ~ experiencing false hopes or opportunities, and most of all the unknown. Wondering who our future children’s birth mother may be, what is she going through right now, how soon may we meet and our worlds will become entwined through this enormously life changing event. I can’t wait to meet her, hear her side of this experience, and go through the rest of this journey together. The anticipation of the unknown may be the worst part of this, but regardless, I am so so grateful for going through this with Rob by my side.

Feeling hopeful and blessed

Can’t wait for in two weeks to be back home in Hawaii, and for our daily morning walks. One of my very favorite things to do with my favorite person and pups, Rob and Meli. I am always in awe when walking the beach at sunrise, at how blessed we are with this beautiful place in which we live, the family and friends in our life, and the love we have for each other. I am eternally grateful, and feeling very hopeful lately. I know we were meant to be parents and I feel like it is coming for us soon! The excitement of our family and friends cheering us on only adds to the affirmation that we have a lot of love to give a little one (or ones) in our world. Feeling very hopeful for our future!
