Thank you so much for reading more about us! We have always wanted to adopt to grow our family, but after we faced infertility, we knew that God had called us to adoption all along.
We grew up on opposite ends of the country, ended up going to the same college, but didn’t meet until a job interview brought us together. We've been inseparable ever since, married now for six years, and we share a love for learning about other cultures, traveling the world, and storytelling. We both love books and are passionate about reading and plan on sharing this passion with our child.
We love to explore the city we live in and go to special events like festivals, parks, fairs, and farmer’s markets. We have an amazing small group at church we are a part of that feels like one big family. We come together to have bonfires, cookouts, game nights, camping trips, and serving projects each year. The majority of the couples in our small group have children and are wonderful role models of how to be a good parent.
Each season brings something fun and new to our household. In the summer, we love to visit the zoo, float down the lazy river at the water park, and eat ice cream while walking along the river. Fall is filled with picking apples, eating pumpkin rolls, and making delicious stews. In the winter, we watch all of our favorite Christmas movies, drink lots of hot chocolate, and go ice-skating and sledding. Once the flowers begin blooming, you can find us out enjoying the sunshine, doing yardwork and taking long walks around the neighborhood. Our city is very family-friendly, and we are excited to continue these traditions and create new traditions with our child someday!
We live in a two-story house on a lovely tree-lined street with four bedrooms, a finished basement, and a huge backyard with lots of space for a child to run around and play. We spend most of our time at home watching a movie, riding bikes, or reading a book. We have already started decorating the nursery in a Peter Pan theme (which we think is great for a boy or a girl!). Our next-door neighbors (and their four young children) are our very good friends from church. Our favorite room is the fireplace room that we've filled with books and comfy reading chairs. We also have two friendly cats, Henry and Lucy.
Kristen is one of the kindest, most hard-working women I have ever met. She loves to help other people and often puts their needs above her own, but still manages to be a great employee and wife. When Kristen and I babysit our friend’s children, I often see the kids cuddled up with her on the couch as Kristen reads them a story. Seeing this, and hearing the voices she used for each character, I just thought "she is going to be a really great mom." I can't wait to see what fun things she has planned for our children in the future.
I’m convinced that if Jon were a dog, he would be a golden retriever – cheerful, loyal, and energetic. His favorite thing in the entire world is to laugh, and if he can help make other people laugh, he beams from ear to ear for the rest of the day. Sometimes I catch him practicing comedy routines in the bathroom mirror and singing goofy songs in the shower! He will love being silly with our child and teaching them to find joy in their lives every day.
