As an Adoptee and parents who adopted our daughter, we would be honored to go on this journey with you.

Dear Expectant Parents,

THANK YOU, words cannot express how appreciative we are that you are viewing our profile and considering us as parents to your child. Although we could never truly understand the emotions you are feeling or comprehend the weight of the decisions you are making, we can definitely say that we are eager to meet you and hear your story. We hope this profile gives you a good sense of who we are as a couple and family, the type of parents we are and will be, and the atmosphere in which we plan to raise children.

We are Aaron and Kate, and from the beginning of our relationship, we have embraced adoption as the natural way to build our family. Kate was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, and while she has been cancer-free and extremely healthy for 10 years, the cancer treatments took away her ability to conceive. Although the diagnosis interrupted Kate's 'normal life' at the time, it truly changed it for the better. Her fight gave her the ability to persevere and remain positive during the most difficult of times, and she became dedicated to mentoring other newly diagnosed young women.

We do have considerable experience with the feelings, emotions and overall process associated with adoption. Kate and her younger sister were both adopted as infants, and our daughter (2 years old) was adopted as well. We have a close relationship with our daughter's birth mother and value her as the courageous, inspiring women she is.

As you look through our profile and learn about us, our families, neighborhood and lifestyle, please know we would be honored to go through this adoption journey together. We are excited to meet you and build a relationship based on trust, respect and admiration.

With Great Love,

Aaron and Kate

Who We Are

We met on Match.com. Yep, internet dating really works! After spending 5 years working and living in Chicago, IL Aaron missed home and decided to return to Milwaukee, WI. Three weeks after moving back, Aaron clicked on Kate's match profile and emailed her. Our first date was drinks where we spent hours chatting. Turned out we grew up blocks from each other, went to neighboring Catholic grade schools AND Aaron's Aunt and Uncle lived next door to Kate's family. We were sure we played together as kids. We quickly fell in love and realized we were soul mates. After 10 months of dating, Aaron got down on one knee and proposed to Kate on the beach in Mexico. We were married in 2013 on a cozy January night surrounded by our closest friends and family.

In 2015, through adoption, we became a family rather quickly. On a Thursday we got the call that a birth mom had given birth to a healthy baby girl and she wanted to meet us and only us. By Saturday we picked up our daughter. It was a whirlwind of the best possible kind. We, along with our daughter's birth mom, often talk about the feeling we both got when we met each other. We feel it was fate, just meant to be. We see our daughter's birth mom 3-4 times a year, text photos and have a Shutterfly account where we upload photos. We are very thankful for her selfless decision and for choosing us to be our daughter's Mom and Dad.

Our parenting approach is relaxed, calm and fun. We strive to provide a positive, nurturing environment where our children feel respected, supported and loved. We value diversity, do not judge and are accepting of others regardless of race, religion, life choices and beliefs. We hope to teach our children the power of gratitude and acceptance. As a family we love living room dance parties, grilling out, hiking, biking, farmers markets, sitting on our porch with giant bowls of ice cream...really anything outside.

Adoption Diary

Flordia Here We Come!

We visited Aarons’s Mom in Fort Myers, Florida in January. She just retired from her job in Wisconsin and moved to a wonderful home just miles from the beach. We had a blast playing in the sand, seeing the ocean and exploring. It was our daughters first time on a plane and she did great. We just got back to Wisconsin and 6 inches of snow on the ground!

Happy 2018!

We celebrated New Years with a little get together at our home. Friends came over with their kiddos for food, dancing and fun. The kiddos jumped on the trampoline and did a craft while the grown ups ate lobster and played games. Perfect way to ring in the New Year! Wishing you a very good year full of strength, love and light.
